If you didn't want to help maybe you should have gone to another post. You do know that one day the person you give knowledge to may be the one taking care of you!

Honestly, really... I mean honestly...do any of us REALLY want a nurse taking care of us that couldn't do a simple google search?

It just seems like such an epidemic of this lately and it really is a little scary. I am very proud of the nursing profession but how can we remain "professional" if so many aren't even willing to participate in their own learning?

I agree with the above though, it's a whole different ballgame if you've studied a concept and get stuck on part of it. This OP didn't appear to even try to find an answer.

Lol. YOU have the internet at your finger-tips. It's amazing what it can do for you, when you put it to the test...

You took the words out of my mouth.

I am a brand new nursing student, about to start clinicals ... and I just said out loud to my boyfriend, "I can't believe there are people on here who can't use google, but expect to take care of me in the hospital."

There appears to be a great deviation in requirements between her and my school. Or she so procrastinated so close to the due date, this was a final option.

I understand we all have to stick together, which is why I am trying to learn the lay of the land here, job shadowing, SNA. But come on.

I am really divided on this one. On one hand I do think that the OP could/should have either gone to library or googled, When I was training a large chunk of what we learnt was exactly how to research properly. Nursing is a never ending education, and if you cannot do your own research then you will really stuggle because even concepts that I was taught back then have totally changed. On the other hand, it could be that the OP prefers to ask experienced nurses who are on the job, rather than read a book or essay. In my opinion if I am researching a subject I would both google, and ask experienced nurses. I would probably have visited the local hospital though, having seen the responses the students do get on here when they ask. Isn't that what they are meant to do? I agree - a specific thread would be good.

"If you didn't want to help maybe you should have gone to another post. You do know that one day the person you give knowledge to may be the one taking care of you!"Oh please, no!!!! However, I doubt that those who consistently ask others to do their research will have a prayer of passing their state boards. OP - no one was rude in any way...we just expect students to do their own work.
