Please share your thoughts about Scripps

Hello Everyone,I am new to Southern CA and have just taken a RN position at Scripps in La Jolla. I know about the cost of living here. I would like to know if anyone out there has any opinions about Scripps. I have heard good things from nurses and the public. Any info is helpful. Thanks.:rotfl:

Which unit are you working on? Do you like it? I have an offer from them that I am seriously contemplating. Are you a new grad? Do you mind me asking your starting salary? Did you get a relocation bonus? (Lots of questions :) )

Im looking into scripps too from a move from boston.. so any info about the hospital would be good =)

Just happened upon this subject due to my inability to sleep and getting called off of my shift due to overstaffing. I had a completly different experience with Scripps (both Green and Chula Vista facilities) which prompted me to call my agency and adamantly tell them "do not ever book me at these facilities again." Not only was it me telling them this but 2 or three other nurses also told them. After speaking with some of the other nurses, and hearing them say that they would never go back there, we also heard from our agency that they gave us a very strong and negative report followed by a DNR (do not return). Bear in mind that I had never been given a DNR nor a negative review in my life. Our feelings regarding some of their staff nurses negated any positive feelings we ever had of these facilities. Some of the negatives given us by our agency regarding our behaviors were as follows:

1) they had difficult finding supplies 2) requested charge nurse's assistance in many things: getting charts (which we found out were taken off the unit by the disciplines), calling family members when the patient was having an aniety attack and needed constant attention by primary nurse, 3) getting directions to different areas of the hospital for both family members and agency nurse.

One of the agency nurses shared a story with me regarding one of her experiences. One patient assigned to her spoke absolutely no English and required a translater for discharge instructions. The translator was not present and she requested help from staff members (who did NOT want to assist in any way). She stated she got behind and the family members, along with the patient became extreemly angry. The charge nurse had to intervene (she spoke Spanish), take over the case and complained about the registry nurse.

So, sorry to say, I have not heard the most positive of things regarding Scripps and now I hear that they are having problems getting registry to go there.

HI! I have an interview scheduled for scripps la jolla. Can you give me any suggestions or advice on how the interview went. What types of questions did they ask? Were they friendly? I am nervous on what they will ask. I have been out of school for a yr and finally got my license so I might be in a disadvantage. Thanks!

Don't know a thing about Scripps La Jolla, but am always skeptical if a unit has alot of travelers.

I thought that Scripps La Jolla was no longer hiring travlers because they were going to get magnet status? I think it's called magnet?

We got Magnet status in April, I don't think we've had any travelers since summer (who finished their contract).
