PLEASE I need some insight on kaplan, hurst and test date!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone!

I a pretty new to this but I have a couple questions. I just scheduled my test date for July 2nd. I am currently enrolled in Kaplan for the middle of June and until then I am reviewing the content they offer online and in their course book.

So far my scores are as follows:

Diagnostic Kaplan exam- 64.4%

QT 1: 55%

QT 2: 63%

QT 3: 57%

I think my biggest problem is content so I was thinking about investing the 300 dollars to take hurst online. But I am not sure I need both Kaplan and hurst.

What do you think? Should I keep my test date on july 2nd or move it back? I graduated in the top 1/3 of my class in may 2014 if that helps for anything, but these Kaplan scores are scaring me!!:nailbiting:

Please, any advice or suggestions would really help!!!

I love love love hurst review and I took it online the week before I took NCLEX, and then passed NCLEX in 75 questions no trouble. Granted, I haven't done Kaplan, but I heard it's just strategy. If you feel you need content review, Hurst won't let you down!

Thank you! Do you think I should move my test date? right now its july 2nd but I might move it to july 16th...do you think a full month of studying is enough?

Honestly, I think you should keep your tests dates like they are and don't stress too much. I did the entire hurst review online in one week, with a Q review test every few days and by the end of the week I felt more than ready bc all of it was fresh. Don't over study. Just do it, it will all be fresh and then go test. You don't need to study everything you ever learned in nursing school. You already know this stuff!! And you can do it!!

Thank you so much! I needed some encouragement! What was your study plan like? how long did you study? how did you study? and did you pass?!

Sorry for all the questions I just don't even know where to start

I didn't study. I just reviewed for an entire week by watching the lectures online so the info was fresh to me and then I answered about 400 practice questions throughout the week. When I was done, I felt ready. I went and took the NCLEX last week and it stopped at 75 questions. I had one math, one drag and drop, and majority select all that apply and priority questions. I found the NCLEX review questions on Hurst to be spot on with what my NCLEX test was. I am now a licensed RN. Please don't stress, it will get the best of you. Find your confidence bc you have come this far bc you CAN do this.

Thank you! and congratulations!

Thank you! and congratulations!

Thank you! Good luck!!

I also did both Hurst and Kaplan and I felt very prepared! I loved Hurst for content, it really drilled in easy to forget content and I loved Kaplan for strategy! If you honestly feel weak on your content then Hurst will be a good investment. Don't change your test date, you have time to study and be sure review all rationales! Best wishes to you, you WILL pass!!

I only did Kaplan. I did not do the videos and attended only 2 days of seminar. But I did most of the Q banks and 4 of the Qt trainers. I did not even do the readiness test. Your score were better than mine. Mine ranged from 45% to 64% and I passed? per PVT with 75 questions.

Doing the Q bank questions served as a content refresher for me.

With your scores I don't think you will have any issues passing.
