Do you do this job for the money or you really, really like to clean vomit, blood, diarrhea and smell the "morning breath" of a sick patient? Please be honest!

You forgot about urine. It has the potential to be very nasty looking and
smelling!

after awhile, you'll learn that body fluids are the least of your worries and you pray for a big stool, or hourly urine. IT's the snarky know it all visitors who break my last nerve.

I'm in it, because I genuinely enjoy helping others. The pay is decent, I have flexibility, and I have options.

I make 25.55 after my night differential and I am in Northern California; I make 0.05 more than my friend that is a office manager at Lithia Motors...I do NOT do it for the money, what money? NO ONE likes cleaning up vomit, blood, diarrhea, and smelling morning breath; but that is not nursing, it is just one tiny insie winsie part of nursing. If you think that is what nursing is about than you have no idea what nursing is.

I like cleaning up blood, and diarrhea, also necrotic tissues and pus. I don't so much like smelling the vomit or the morning breath, though.
What money?

I dont understand why it has to be one or the other; money or love of bodily fluids.
For my part, I'm fascinated by the body. Its an interesting world where I can see someone with a knife deep in their skull still talking and eating his dinner, while someone who simply had a diet too high in a tiny electrolyte is convulsing.
The money is slightly better than I made as a 22 year old secretary. I have to fight to find a job in a town that has six-count 'em, six-nursing schools saturating the market with new grads. I've had to accept that it will likely be years before I can get into the department I actually want to work in.
But I get to hold the hands of family members, I get see everything from the nasty to the interesting. I come home from work bursting with information that makes my mind turn in circles and encourage me to keep learning every day.
Vomit and diarrhea are just part of it. Take the good with the bad, or gtfo.

I heard a lot of people are getting OUT of nursing because of the women!
Because Americans LOVE themselves a false dichotomy!
