please help me come up with a name for a new ltc facility. maybe a word that means something... i don't know ... i am racking my brain ... my uncle is opening up a new facility and asked me to help him with a name...

Think about something local for your facility--something that evokes "home" for the elders living in your local area who will become residents.

I like the idea of a song one though would probably avoid that one LOL. possibly a song related to the main age of the residents?

most facility names seem to follow the formula of "pleasant adjective + name of tree" or "name of tree + natural feature (creek, hills, woods, etc.)", something with a high-class sounding name like "manor" or "villa", or the name of the town if they're located in a small town.

maybe "shady pines"? wasn't that the name of sophia's nursing home in golden girls? sorry, but i've never really thought seriously about the meaning of ltc facility names. many of them, unfortunately, could be accused of false advertising.

With some facilities, that would be false advertising unless you used the opposite of "heaven".

How about "Stairway to Heaven"?

Please tell your uncle that the name is the least important aspect of the place- he should be racking his brains out on the more important aspects of the place- hiring warm, competent staff, creating the proper environment etc, I don;t care if he names it after himself- a rose by any other name...

a places reputation is more important and that begins with the head.

find some research on the land the ltc is built on.

the place i work at is named for a saint like farm girl whose family used to own that land. that way there is an interesting story about how the name was founded.

"(farm girl name) @ (town name) snf" is the complete title. lame???? maybe. i suppose they had to get family ok to use the name?

please tell your uncle that the name is the least important aspect of the place- he should be racking his brains out on the more important aspects of the place- hiring warm, competent staff, creating the proper environment etc, i don;t care if he names it after himself- a rose by any other name... a places reputation is more important and that begins with the head.

i am not going to address the above comment, except to say, "don't you think he knows all of the above???" and; people like you are one reason people do not like to ask certain questions on these boards.
