Nurses General Nursing

Published

I have BSN from outside usa country . I finished my evaluation and my BSN is equivalent to BSN from US approved college . Plus I am an RN also in my original country and this was verified as well but I have an issue that I have not practiced as nurse for last 4 years so most of states are requiring this . I am applying at non clinical jobs using my BSN and hopfully I can get something . I am considering to switch to RT school so do you think having BSN will help me meet some credits and cut the years of study? what is my bets option to switch to something else using my BSN? Thank you .

I got my evaluation equivalence for BSN RN

Well, under this circumstances you need to pass NCLEX first before thinking any further. If you feel you need a refresher course, take it.

Another option is to try to find ADN to BSN bridge program and attempt to convince them to admit you there by re-evaluating your coursework. It will greatly help you to pass NCLEX and make base for U.S. nursing education.

Most, if not all, ADN/ASN bridge programs require that you already have your RN license. Some programs will allow you to start gen ED requirements prior to obtaining your RN license but I'm not sure that I know a program that will allow you to go past the first nursing class without a RN license.

This was the way I got my BSN. An average public university which "confluenced" direct-admit BSN and "bridge" LPN and ADN into a single large class. My past general courses (foreign M.D.) impressed them enough after their evaluation to bypass me through first two years directly into BSN nursing courses. I did not take patho, micro, anatomy, Chemistry - nothing but pharma because I wanted A.

It saved me a heck of time and money, although I probably will have to explain to the end of my career how an unassuming place in the middle of nowhere was able to have electives like "History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union" ?

Have you visited allnurses NCLEX forum? Tons of advice here along with several video series recommended by our members: https://allnurses.com/NCLEX-exam-programs-c133/

National Council of State Boards of Nursing NCLEX--can pay for practice exam: https://www.NCSBN.org/NCLEX.htm

I would look for a refresher course, take NCLEX, pass and be on your way in your career as an RN in the United States.

an update

I was able to register with NM board to get NCLEX done

now I just need to study for my NCLEX
