I am looking at going to Platt college Tulsa"s lvn to rn program. I will take the net test in January. I am excited because it is a 13 month program . I feel like the move to Oklahoma for a 13 month period would be worth it to bypass waiting list and prereqs that are different from cc to cc . I do have a lot of prereqs just not enough to start at traditional college bridge programs by May. Any Platt grads out there with imput ?
Thanks, Calliesue

Is there any reason why you're considering their Tulsa campus instead of the one in Oklahoma City? I'm just wondering. :)
Hi Commuter,
Yes. The reason I am thinking Tulsa is because the 13 month program starts in May. I couldn't be ready to go in Jan for OKC . Plus the person I spoke to at okc told me January class is full.

I would consider looking at other RN-BSN programs in Tulsa! Platt IS NOT ACCREDITED!! Try OU Tulsa or University of Tulsa. It will be cheaper than what Platt is going to charge you too!!
I realize that if I go on for my bsn my basics taken at Platt might not transfer. I already have most of my core classes though. Also the Oklahoma State Board Of Nursing recognizes this program . For me the matter of time is the biggest issue.
I just don't want to wait another year to get in a bridge program .

As a current student at the college in Tulsa, I can tell you that it is not "easy" like so many people seem to think.
For one, the entrance test was killer, and the tuition is very high, well over 24,000. Home work, you ask? TONS,and be prepared to read several chapters a night and test at least once a week.
I have met some of the most amazing people here, and the English teacher is superior to any that I have ever had. Anatomy and Psy...kicks your butt, be prepared, very prepared. the strong survive, and come out "work ready".
Best of luck in what ever you decide. In case you are wondering, Platt also offers a BSN prograhm.

One thing I will point out is that Platt's NCLEX-RN pass rate is 66%. Thats way below many of the school's in the area.

So, is that just in OK that it is not accredited? I am looking into Platt College School of Nursing in CO, and it says that it IS accredited... I am now confused. I don't want something "scammy." I just want to get my BSN and be a nurse at a reputable place!
Platt College in Colorado is not NLN-accredited, nor is it CCNE-accredited. It is accredited by an entity that accredits trade schools. It is also approved to operate by the Colorado Board of Nursing. You can still attend an unaccredited nursing program, graduate, pass boards, and land a job, but your opportunities will be limited. For example, the VA does not hire RNs who have attended unaccredited schools of nursing. In addition, most graduate schools (MSN and Ph.d) programs will not accept a person with a BSN from an unaccredited school.
