Pioneer Staffing Services - Centinela Medical Center New Grads

Published

Hello All,

Wondering if anyone has signed a new grad contract with Pioneer Staffing Services for the Centinela Medical Center? I have been offered a position but am a bit nervous about signing a 2 yr contract with them...

Or if you have any experience working at Centinela? Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

LOL it'll be OK! It wasnt too tricky!

Hi! I have a quick follow-up question. I was actually offered a position with Centinela and already did my background/drug screen/physical. Because of Covid they're mailing me my onboarding documents to fill out at home, after which I'm going to set up a meeting (I assume to turn in the documents/get my 2nd step ppd/ IDK what else?). I spoke with HR and they said there would be a quiz either in the packet or during the meeting...did you have to do this quiz too? Any idea what the quiz is about?

Also...at what point did you get fitted for a mask and have to turn in titers and stuff? What was that onboarding meeting like? How long after onboarding did you actually start working?

Thanks for any info!

Also, at what point do they check your references?

WOW!! Just started following this thread. Have an interview (Skype) with Mike today! Everyone that’s started working at Centinela, how is going?? Positives? Negatives? I’m hoping to get into ICU...

The quiz is about medicines still Oldgrad66. Also I started working probably within 2 weeks after onboarding. My references were never checked LOL. And I really enjoy my unit I've been there 3 months and it's going well. Positive thing is there a great sense of teamwork on my unit. Everyone is overall helpful and you won't be left in the dust if you don't know anything . The negative honestly can be the workload. I feel like this hospital requires more work than others as far as patient care. As far as admitting, discharging, case management, wound care Wednesdays.. I mean it's a lot .

Glad to hear it's going well! Yeah, it def sounds like a lot of work. Hopefully everyone on my floor is as helpful as yours!

One last question! How many days of classroom orientation did you have? I know you mentioned you had less than normal. So far it looks like I'll only have 2 days, one for nursing orientation and one for the Meditech training. Any heads up about what I should be prepared for during those 2 classroom days? Should I brush up on any skills? Thank you for continuing to reply! It really has helped ease a lot of my curiosities!

Yea I only had 2 days too and no nothing you need to brush up on. All the learning is on the unit! You're welcome and good luck !

Just wondering how long it took you guys to receive your paper work in the mail from HR after background check/physical? I got hired by Centinela directly instead of contract, but want to know if it’s normal to still be waiting. I did background screening/physical on 6/24.

Did you follow up with them for the paperwork like you were supposed to? I was also hired directly and did my physical on 6/13 and I already have a start date.

I would say it's not normal to still be waiting, but then again they did recently hire a bunch of people so they're probably backed up? Did you ever call HR to request your paperwork?

Yes I called to follow up on 7/6 since it had been over 10 business days since my submission of everything. They said that the next step was that paper work would come in the mail via fedex and then once I have that I can call back. But they didn’t ask for my name or anything. I’ll call again and check in. Thank you.

No problem. When I went in to turn in the paperwork I got the impression that they were very busy. But once they send you the paperwork it usually arrives within a day or 2 and your appointment to turn everything in should be pretty soon after that (at least it was for me). Good luck!

Hi all!

Does anyone know if Centinela is still hiring new grads? I see the posting is still on Indeed but its 30+ days old so I wasn't sure!

I just passed my NCLEX and would love to work at Centinela.

Thank you in advance!

I know this is an old thread, but if I may ask, what unit do you work in? Have you (or anyone you know) had a bad experience in the Telemetry unit?
