Pioneer Staffing Services - Centinela Medical Center New Grads

Published

Hello All,

Wondering if anyone has signed a new grad contract with Pioneer Staffing Services for the Centinela Medical Center? I have been offered a position but am a bit nervous about signing a 2 yr contract with them...

Or if you have any experience working at Centinela? Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

I work on the Stepdown Unit/DOU which is very nice! Both Stepdown Units are excellent and the overall Critical Care Department is excellent! Now I float to Telemetry sometimes and well.. it's different. It really depends on which Tele Unit you go to. I don't want to bash any particular unit online, but yea some units are good and others are a different story  ? ...

Gotcha! Thanks for sharing your feedback!

Anyone that started their contract but regrets it/likes it? What has been your experience thus far?

Hello,

I know this thread is months old, but I was wondering if anyone could help me. I was offered a position on the med-surg unit on day shift. Does anyone have any insight on how the floor is? Management?  How has it been as a new grad working for this hospital so far? I would greatly appreciate any insight you may have.

I know this post is somewhat ancient, but I was wondering if anyone had anything to say about working through Pioneer Staffing Services for Centinela Hospital in the emergency room? I recently had an interview with Mike, and essentially been offered a position. There are several things that I'm still unsure of, that I'm going to have to clarify with Pioneer Staffing Services, but I'm wondering if anyone has got an ER position through them and is willing to talk about their experience? Also does anyone know if this position continues at Centinela for the 26 month contract, or are you moved somewhere else after some time? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could update on how working through Pioneer Staffing Services is going/any advice? I am a new grad. Thanks in advance!

Hello!

Popping back up for all the posts in the past month. Im 13 months into the contract and there are some regrets. Mainly underestimating the not so strong leadership at the hospital that seems to disregard the nurses and our rights...  and heavy workload. However I've learned a lot and can say I'm a better nurse because of it all.. I've had super high acuity patients so you'll get the experience . It's too bad now because in theory I could easily get a job at another hospital now .. but I can't leave yet. It's discouraging but I can't say I 100% regret signing the contract . What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

For anyone considering signing on with Pioneer Staffing I recommend trying to get hired directly from Centinela Hospital. They offer more benefits and you won’t be stuck there for 2 years if you’re not happy.

Hi, I'm looking into maybe applying now? I'm concerned about the job market as a new grad. People always say hospitals are in need of nurses, but I know it's more difficult to get hired here. Would you still recommend applying here or do you think I stand a chance getting in anywhere else?

Centinela Hospital is not a good place to work. Management doesn't care about the nurses and a lot of nurses are leaving. Nurses are being forced to go out of radio on multiple occasions. Honestly it is a disaster there right now with the way management is running things. You will definitely get hired there but if I were you I would try elsewhere first. If you really can't find anything then apply directly through centinela Hospital. DO NOT go through pioneer staffing.

Centinela is a horrible place to work. There is no respect for staff, management does not care, you will be out of ratio everyday. Also, they will cut your orientation in half or less because they are so short. If you decide to apply, just go through them directly, do not get sucked into to signing a contract with Pioneer. Centinela WILL hire you, don't let HR tell you that you need to apply at Pioneer. I know how it feels being a new grad and feeling you need to take what you can get, but be patient, apply to new grad programs, or any positions. Many places are willing to hire outside of new grad programs too. The doors will open.

Yes it is a horrible place to work. Just give it time. Put in applications to as many places as you can. It'll take some time but you will get a call back. You will regret it if you work at centinela. It's not worth it
