pin ?

I'm about to graduate this spring and have to decide whether to buy a school pin or not. Honestly......what % of guys actually wear their pin? Where do they wear it? Am I supposed to go to the pinning ceremony even if I don't order one? That whole jewelry schtick is SO not me...I don't even wear my wedding ring.

My dad was not overly thrilled I was going to LPN school. But during my RN program, he paid for my school pin. Granted, I only wore it for a short time. I still have it. Like the others have mentioned, the decision is yours.

I am proud of to have to have my pin.

Been out of school two-years now. Had forgotten about that ceremony until you posed the question. Didn't buy a pin, didn't go to ceremony. Didn't matter then, doesn't matter now. I still have student loans to remind me of that period.

Got LPN pin, is in drawer somewhere. Got the RN pin, think it is beside the other one somewhere. Not into jewerly. Is personal choice, I guess.

I don't get the whole pinning thing. Seems rather overly-feminine to me - like wearing those nursing hats. I'll be happy going to graduation, but I have no interest in this pining stuff.

I am planning on getting a pin and going to the pinning ceremony. There is a lot of ritual to ceremony that I am not too keen on but I am going for two reasons. One is because the ceremony is more personal than the graduation. There will be less than thirty people graduating, most from my program, and this will be the last thing that I will get to share with all of them. During the past year we all went through a lot together, so this is something just for us, rather than having to share the day with thousands of other graduates from other programs.

The second reason, at least in our ceremony, someone of significance to you can put the pin on you. This is a way of honoring those who worked with you as you persued your degree, and I look forward to being able to do that.

I have skipped other graduations, think they were just a bother. But I am a bit sad that I let those moments go by without sharing it somehow with my friends and family.

TAG THAT SHOWS YOU ARE A REGISTERED NURSE, LPN, LVN.

WEAR IT PROUDLY.

I wear my pin and proudly, every time I work.

Last night a family member recognized it--she is a student of the same school.

People notice.

I wear it out of pride and respect.

hey ken-pin-

listen to this- i don't wear my pin, but that's just because it's one more thing to add to my morning routine. i will say, however, that the pinning ceremony meant more to me than the graduation ceremony. it really made me feel like a part of the profession. anyway, you'll never regret getting it, but you may regret not getting it.

Doesn't interest me either.....my teacher says that when I do my job during clinicals...I use my feminine touch....I told her "Only on the clock".. :chair:

I think I'll pass on the pin and the ceremony. My diploma and nursing license will do very nicely as momentos thank you. Same goes for the Sigma Theta Tau jewelry/accessories, except for a ring..everything's feminine. Now, if they had a nice buck-knife or cool holster for my .45...now that would be worth looking in to.

A cool looking Holster would look great in the ED if it could be designed to hold all that nursing equipment we need; steth, pen light, thermometer etc. It might make the police look twice but you would look very individual. J.R.
