I also looked into that NAU master's for those with a non-nursing bachelor's. You have to finish the associates nursing program first. Then you take 2 BSN bridge courses which are offered online, and then you can apply for their master's program.

The way I see it, that master's option through NAU is attractive because you do not have to do the extra classes while in the Pima program as you do with GCU. Plus you can decide when to pursue the master's degree. Whereas with GCU you have to continue straight into the master's program after graduating Pima and passing the NCLEX. My concern is working on school at the same time I am working as a new grad nurse and trying to manage becoming a "real nurse."

The cost is pretty similar between the two; NAU is a few thousand cheaper because of not having to take and pay for the GCU classes during the Pima program.

The downside to that NAU master's program (for me) was that I may never actually decide that the time is "right" to go back to school again to pursue the master's degree. Plus having to go through the whole application process again, which includes writing a letter of intent and doing an interview. No thanks!

I ruled out the NAU master's because I feel like I just want to go to school and finish, and not have to worry about returning later. Like I said, I'm not positive that would happen. Not with my student debt and taking care of my family.

I think I will end up in the GCU program. My husband is very much pushing for that one, and I wonder if I should just go ahead and complete the master's degree for the same reasons I ruled out the NAU master's program. I really want to do the NAU BSN, and I would if money and time were no objects! But the real world implications of choosing a program has me leaning toward GCU.

Plus apparently my neighbor has 2 cousins who went through the Pima/GCU program and they both recommend it! One said she graduated with her associates and began working at TMC as a RN, and then TMC paid for half her GCU master's tuition in exchange for her agreement to work there for another year after completing her master's degree! Now that's something I would totally do.

Ok so I stopped by the nursing department and no one was at the desk but there were some current students there that I talked to. They just said that we will get an email at some point but that nothing will really happen until closer to the end of summer. They also advised me to start studying pharmacology and to buy a nclex study book and just start doing practice problems and start learning how to answer that type of question, where they are all right answers you just need to find the MOST right answer. So sorry not a great answer for when we can expect an email but still some good advice from current students. Oh they also said to enjoy our summer ??
