Pima Community College Fall 2019

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi all! Thought I would get a three going for us! Anyone else getting ready to apply? Just waiting for these last prerequisites to finish up and hit my transcript. I should have a 4.0 GPA in my prereqs and on the Hesi have 8 pts in each math and reading, as well as 10 pts for A&P. Plus health-related job experience, a previous degree and volunteer hrs. So I think my points should sit at 94. I'm going to apply for the GCU CEP but also think I will apply to NAU. How about everyone else?

Colivares did you request the evening classes? Also, are you doing the CEP or only the Pima program?

Dreamchaser, we have classes together!

Lol I thought the same but no I didn't request the evening classes. For right now I'm only doing the normal adn but hope to enroll for the cep later on.

Same here, I looked into it but don't qualify as I already have a bachelor's degree. I applied for all the scholarships pima has listed though ?

Hey I found this thread. I am hopefully finding out tomorrow if I’m accepted into Pima’s CEP ASU program. I was wondering how you guys ended up paying for school? What are the payment plans like? Did financial aid cover most (if you are eligible)? Did you receive any loans, federal/private?thanks

I ended up getting a scholarship through pima that paid my normal tuition (not the differential tuition) for this first year. I paid cash for the other costs, which mounted to about $800 per semester not including books/uniforms/stethoscope. You can utilize the payment plan which splits the semester tuition into 3 payments. I had already used up any federal financial aide on my first bacheokrs, but many who do not have prior degrees get enough federal aide to cover the entire cost. It is highly dependent on your situation!

P.S. Fingers crossed for you!

I really appreciate your response to my questions and congratulations on your scholarship. We are still waiting on our acceptance (hopefully) for Fall 2020 entry. I’m hoping I’ll get enough financial aid for Pima and pay with a private loan for ASU.
Thank you again! I’ll let you know if I get in

I also looked into that NAU master's for those with a non-nursing bachelor's. You have to finish the associates nursing program first. Then you take 2 BSN bridge courses which are offered online, and then you can apply for their master's program.

The way I see it, that master's option through NAU is attractive because you do not have to do the extra classes while in the Pima program as you do with GCU. Plus you can decide when to pursue the master's degree. Whereas with GCU you have to continue straight into the master's program after graduating Pima and passing the NCLEX. My concern is working on school at the same time I am working as a new grad nurse and trying to manage becoming a "real nurse."

The cost is pretty similar between the two; NAU is a few thousand cheaper because of not having to take and pay for the GCU classes during the Pima program.

The downside to that NAU master's program (for me) was that I may never actually decide that the time is "right" to go back to school again to pursue the master's degree. Plus having to go through the whole application process again, which includes writing a letter of intent and doing an interview. No thanks!

I ruled out the NAU master's because I feel like I just want to go to school and finish, and not have to worry about returning later. Like I said, I'm not positive that would happen. Not with my student debt and taking care of my family.

I think I will end up in the GCU program. My husband is very much pushing for that one, and I wonder if I should just go ahead and complete the master's degree for the same reasons I ruled out the NAU master's program. I really want to do the NAU BSN, and I would if money and time were no objects! But the real world implications of choosing a program has me leaning toward GCU.

Plus apparently my neighbor has 2 cousins who went through the Pima/GCU program and they both recommend it! One said she graduated with her associates and began working at TMC as a RN, and then TMC paid for half her GCU master's tuition in exchange for her agreement to work there for another year after completing her master's degree! Now that's something I would totally do.

Hello.  I don’t know if you still frequent this site, but I was wondering which program you chose?  I was just accepted to the Pima ADN and have a bachelors in another field.  The NAU bridge program seems to be the best option financially to me.

Hello!

I am actually graduating this May from the PCC ADN program. Only my preceptorship left to complete! I did start the GCU concurrent enrollment but found it nearly impossible to get funding for that program with having a prior bachelor's and found it much more doable to pay out of pocket for just Pima and not Pima and GCU. I do plan to go back for the NAU MSN in about a year or two, after completing a New Grad Residency program. Congrats on being accepted! It is a lot of work, but so worth it!

Thanks so much!  I’m an older student and not looking to take on any debt, just looking for a career change.  One more question,  were you able to work while attending school?  I have completed all of the general ED’s so will only have the nursing courses, but hoping to continue with my current job while attending school.
