Pima CC 2020

Published

Hello! I’ve been checking this site for a while hoping someone would start a thread.. and thought why don’t I?

Is anyone else applying to Pima CC nursing program with 2/1 deadline? I’m also applying to ASU CEP program! Just waiting for my degree to post and I’ll be all set to apply! ?

Is there anyone we can call or email for clarification?

Ugh IDK I just sent another email clarifying. I feel so silly! I hope this doesn’t effect me getting in. I promise I can read!

I agree I feel silly too being confused like this but this is so important to me so I feel like I’m probably thinking to much into it and over analyzing ? but then I asked my mom and boyfriend which one they think I would submit after reading it and they both thought just the CEP

Yeah so did my husband, WOW! I feel bleh! Hopefully my email clarifying will be fine. ??‍♀️

I got clarification from someone on the committee and they said that by accepting the ASU CEP includes the ADN that both contracts don’t need to be submitted either the ASU or the ADN.

Thanks! I wonder if they’ll send confirmation emails?

I have heard a lot of talk about hospitals requiring a bachelor's degree for the 10 years I have been working in a hospital setting. I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm only saying it hasn't happened yet. Also I believe that the only hospital around here that compensates more to do higher education is the V.A. Follow your heart and do what feels right. I am personally going for my associates because it is much cheaper and I plan on going right back after I have started work as a nurse. Also, a lot of hospitals do tuition reimbursement so you would be reimbursed a fair amount if you were already working there. Just my 2 cents.

I’ve been doing a lot of research on this before I decide. I really appreciate you taking the time to email me and I agree with you entirely! They’ve been trying to push for the bachelors in 10 years thing and NY is the only state that passed it, and it took 14 years! I highly doubt anyone will dare to propose such legislation within a couple of years of this pandemic. I just don’t have the means to pay for both and unfortunately I can’t just hope for scholarships and loans.
TMC and UMC both hire nurses with associates degrees.

My moms a nurse and she did tell me that there is more potential to make more money with a bachelors instead of just an associates. She also said that a lot of jobs in hospitals prefer a bachelors vs associates. I would go for it!

In the Tucson area UMC and TMC both hire ADN’s. They prefer a bachelors for the areas I want to specialize like the ICU. I’m going to try my hardest to get a loan but the program is a lot of money ? I’m so happy that you guys got in and you can afford to pay for it

My hospital in WA still hire ADNs but also prefer BSNs. Seattle may be a different story though. At some point hosptials may transition to BSN only, but that won't be for a long awhile at this point.

I feel like if getting a BSN is important to you, Cactuslover, then you should go with the CEP and apply for more loans. I think it depends on the location and specialty you want to work in, but I've heard ADN and BSN have similar starting wages while BSNs probably do have more potential to increase over time easier like Celeste has heard. ADNs would have to take online classes while working to get their BSN, that's what some nurses I'm working with are doing while full time. My hospital requires nurses with ADNs to get their BSN within 5 years of hire I believe.

Definitely shop around the rates for private loans and/or see if your parents are willing to apply for the PLUS loan for you if that's an option. My parents are covering for my brother so I'll be focusing on what's left of my federal loans and looking at Sallie Mae for now.

Got confirmation they recieved my contract! I accidentally sent both contracts but they figured out I wanted to enroll in the CEP at least LOL

They emailed you back a confirmation that they got your contract? I haven’t heard anything back from they yet.

Yeah, but that may have been because I sent my contract that Friday right after receiving the acceptance email ? If you also sent it Friday, you'll most likely get an email sometime today

Ohh gotcha! ? I’ll wait a bit longer before freaking out then! But I’m glad that they reached out about it. I was all worried yesterday ?

Oh yay I’m glad to hear you got a confirmation! I barely sent mine yesterday so I’m still waiting ?
