Pima CC 2020

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello! I’ve been checking this site for a while hoping someone would start a thread.. and thought why don’t I?

Is anyone else applying to Pima CC nursing program with 2/1 deadline? I’m also applying to ASU CEP program! Just waiting for my degree to post and I’ll be all set to apply! ?

My hospital in WA still hire ADNs but also prefer BSNs. Seattle may be a different story though. At some point hosptials may transition to BSN only, but that won't be for a long awhile at this point.

I feel like if getting a BSN is important to you, Cactuslover, then you should go with the CEP and apply for more loans. I think it depends on the location and specialty you want to work in, but I've heard ADN and BSN have similar starting wages while BSNs probably do have more potential to increase over time easier like Celeste has heard. ADNs would have to take online classes while working to get their BSN, that's what some nurses I'm working with are doing while full time. My hospital requires nurses with ADNs to get their BSN within 5 years of hire I believe.

Definitely shop around the rates for private loans and/or see if your parents are willing to apply for the PLUS loan for you if that's an option. My parents are covering for my brother so I'll be focusing on what's left of my federal loans and looking at Sallie Mae for now.

Got confirmation they recieved my contract! I accidentally sent both contracts but they figured out I wanted to enroll in the CEP at least LOL

I’m not opposed to either my mom actually has her associates and works at banner medical center in the emergency room and when I talked to her about how I got accepted for both I asked her what I should do. She stated long term if you have a bachelors degree you can make more money bc there is promotion levels, anyone with an associates degree can only reach a certain level vs a bachelors. Shes been a nurse for 8 years with an associates degree and she’s completely happy with it, she doesn’t feel the need to get a bachelors right now she loves what she does and can go to school anytime she wants to get a bachelors it truly is all about what makes you happy and what your looking for. ? For me I would love to be a nurse practitioner one day so I’m looking for the fastest way to get my bachelors and continue my education.

Does anyone have kids??

Thank you very much for your advice. I was asking some local nurses I know through work about what I should do. They said to just do the ADN first if that’s all I can afford. The hospitals here don’t require you to get your BSN in any time frame. I also heard that new RNs regardless of BSN all start at around 26/hr.

I got my confirmation email two days ago just FYI and I emailed them Monday night.

Thank you so much!! I want to be an NP too. I just realized if I wait and do the RN-BSN my financial aid will cover almost all of the two programs. It sucks we can’t get financial aid from two schools at once ? this way I won’t be in debt for like 42k after all of the interest. The loan I needed for 17k at a 9% interest rate and would be that much after 15 years.

Also** I have a bf who is in grad school. We will be living off of his small stipend. So I don’t have like a husband and I don’t plan on working in the program. I’m sad but this is what works for me ?

When you guys got your confirmation email did it just say “received”?

Yes I did both, since they go to the same email address. I just had my subject indicating it’s contracts for both “ADN/BSN

Also I hope it doesn’t look unprofessional, but I don’t have a scanner so I just took a picture of them and uploaded...?

If you download “office lens” (free) it’s just as good as a scanner. I use it 24/7.

Yup! Just said recieved.

With financial aid, we'll just have to work with what's best for the situation. I already have 35k in federal loans from my first bachelors so I'm willing to take out what I need to finish this now and work to pay it off as soon as possible since I'm so done with school LOL

For Celeste, I don't have kids unless you want to count a little budgie and hopefully another bird or dog in a few months ?

Thank you. I’m so excited to meet you ladies at orientation. We should all maybe try to get there a couple of minutes early and meet up?

I just got my instructions to apply for ASU woot woot!

If your filling out your application for ASU the instructions states to pick term 2020 Spring, this is wrong I got clarification just in case LOL you would pick Summer (may) 20208BA09ABF-FDAD-4257-96D7-09025200DB19.thumb.jpeg.59cd470a548f4a56ad0ba4266cdfaa7b.jpeg

Did everyone sign up for their virtual orientation? Did anyone get a confirmation for it?

Signed up the day I got the email, but no confirmation.

I signed up two days ago and didn't get a confirmation either. They don't seem to give out confirmation emails for things ?
