Physiology and Microbiology same semester

So for our ADN Program at my community college the pre reqs follow like this

1. BIOL 31 - Human Anatomy

and

2. BIOL 32 - Human Physiology

3. BIOL 22 - Introduction to Microbiology

or

BIOL 23 - General Microbiology

4. FCS 6 - Nutrition

5. ENG1A - Written Communications

I've taken the nutrition already so this semester im taking the Anatomy and the english and chemistry, which is a pre reqs to physiology. And my plan is to take Microbiology and Physiology in the Fall, and apply for the nursing program in the spring of 09.

Does that sound like a good idea, to take those both together, or would it be possible to take physiology in the summer, and micro in the fall?

Thanks

I think it's do-able to take both of them in the fall, as long as you know in advance that you're going to have to put many, many hours in studying! Taking physiology in the summer might be OK, but most summer courses are intense and accelerated, so you have to think whether that would stress you out too much.

It's possible to do both Micro & Phys at the same time. I did Micro + A&P in the same quarter, and did Pharmacology + Pathophysiology + the last A&P course in another quarter. NOT fun, but doable.

I took A&P II, Micro and Chem this past semester. Not fun at all, I spent lot's of time studying but I managed an A in A&P II, an A in Micro and a B in Chem (the teacher was a waste and basically made us learn on our own). I figured it would be a semester like I would see in Nursing school.

Just make sure you have the time to devote to studying and you should be fine! :)

Definately doable, I also did A&P II and Micro(both with labs) in the same semester...managed a B in AP and an A in Micro. If you can split them up, then do so (it might be easier?), but I think you can do it. Just prepare to have no life though :lol2: I kid.

what do you think about taking micro, phy & anat 2 & nutrition in the spring?

I took Mircro and anatomy & physiology 3 spring term and I did great in both. I wouldn't add Nutrition to the mix. I am taking that now and I am glad I am taking it without any other sciences. Not that it's hard, but it;'s time consuming. I would take Micro and anatomy and physiology though. It will be a lot of studying but definetly do-able. Good luck

Doable, if you give up your life. :) I did A&P 2, Chem I and nutrition last spring, and it was tough, but I got As in all 3. I did the nutrition online. That was a big help, since I didn't have to go to class. Just be prepared for doing schoolwork all the time.

It's doable.

I'm taking anatomy and chemistry this semester (with nutrition and english), and I'm getting A's in everything. I also work full time and am married and manage to have free time to do fun stuff too.

Next semester I'm doing Physiology and Micro. I think it will definitely be doable.

thanks for your assistance. I have to do it. Most schools need my pre-req's by next semester, plus it will give me the summer off before I begin nursing school next fall.

Do you think it would be doable to take A&P 2 and Micro in the same semester if those are the only classes I took? I work 20 hours a week( evenings and weekends ) and I have 3 little boys that are 10,8, and 4 years old. They are all in full day school so I would have from 9am-3pm to study. I just want to make sure that I get good grades.

I've done it before, I took Biology and Chemistry in one semester. If you pick two really good fair professors using ratemyprofessor.com, it can be done successfully.

Taking one science a semester will take you forever, and I certianly do not want to be taking my pre reqs forever. I want to get it out of the way so I can start nursing school and move on with my life.
