PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

Hey Sara, what I recommend with the shoes is to go to the store try on different brands to see how they fit, then look online for those shoes for a cheaper price. You're turning 18 right? I'm going to be turning 20 in Nov so you might be youngest.

I agree with Mike, try on in the store then look online for them. eBay and Amazon had the best prices.

Mike, you made a valid point. Sara is probably the youngest. I would never ask the ladies how old they are (I'm smarter than the average idiot) :) but I am 42...

That's a great idea, thanks so much Mike! I probably am, hopefully they don't treat me like the youngest though. That's something I don't deal well with haha.

You should be proud of that. You are much more on tract with your life than I was at your age!

Thank you so much! I really am proud of myself. When I started college almost two years ago this goal of mine was sooo far away. Now, I cannot believe that I am already on track to my dream job :)

Glad there is another "older" person in the group. I am 37. I have been a stay at home mom for the last 12 years. When my youngest was in K4, I realized I would be bored out of my mind when she went to Kindergarten. So, here I am. I have always wanted to be a nurse. What better time than now, right? ;)

My teas score was a 67.3, hernando resident. I see that 4 people declined WC, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I see that someone who was accepted to LPN had a 70 teas :) does anyone know how many alternates they pick? The letter says they have until Jan. 9th to let us know, but that is cutting it really close. I am going to give them until Dec. 7th to notify me before I apply for my BS. I don't want to waste a semester.

I hope we both get in. I got a 67.3 on my teas. I am strong in everything except science :( I see that 4 people are declining the LPN at WC, hopefully they will fill two of those seats with us :)

My plan is to be a stay at home mom once I have children, that's why I started early, so that I could work and all before I have kids! Kudos to you for going back to school :) If its right for you, then go for it! What campus are you wanting to go to?

RN composite scoring formula:

The first steps is to take your pre-req GPA and multiply by 25 then multiply that by .45.

The second step is to divide your TEAS by 2.

The third step is to add 5 points if you are a Pasco or Hernando resident.

Add your scores and that is your composite.

Example:

GPA 4.0*25=100*.45=45

TEAS 80/2=40

Resident +5

45+40+5= would have an entrance score of 90 for the program

I hope we both get in. I got a 67.3 on my teas. I am strong in everything except science :( I see that 4 people are declining the LPN at WC, hopefully they will fill two of those seats with us :)

Keep your fingers crossed!

Oh and remember if the classes are not paid for 1 week before they start the school drops that person and that spot becomes available.

I just turned 40. I've been a stay at home mom since 2003. I did life a little backward but I wouldn't change it for anything. I wanted to have all of my kids by the time I was 30, and I had my last one at 30. I wanted to have my kids while I was young. I've been lucky enough to stay home with all of my children. Now it's my time to go to school for nursing like I've wanted to do for a long time. Loving life!!!

Thanks! That's a good frame of mind to have! I have loved every minute of being home with my kids. My oldest is 18 and my youngest just turned 7. I am hoping for Porter Campus. Its only 30 minutes from my house vs. 1:20min to West campus.

My plan is to be a stay at home mom once I have children, that's why I started early, so that I could work and all before I have kids! Kudos to you for going back to school :) If its right for you, then go for it! What campus are you wanting to go to?

Hahah! You sound so much like me. Backward was my middle name!;) I too wanted all my kids by 30 and had the last one at 30! Its time for us now :) Which campus are you hoping for?
