PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

That calculation is for acceptance into the RN program. Im not sure if the bridge program is the same.

Thanks I really don't know if its valid or not. As far as I know, we really don't know. I am fortunate to work in a hospital where PHSC nursing students

(LPN, Bridge and RN) round as I did once myself as an LPN student. The instructors say that if you graduated from PHSC LPN they give you preference although, that is not posted on the site. I asked around about this scoring calculation on here and previous threads. Both instructors who are not on the committee said. That they don't even know:-) LOL ahhh also I can't recall exactly who told me that they don't look at the exact number total grade but group by overall and then look as specific subject scores. Such as reading and science. Nursing is a job of critical thinking and reading plays a portion of that. Who knows? If I can't get in because of the low odds of 12 seats the Aug bridge accepts 36 for both North and West Campus. I may have better odds then. Lots of luck to you! I saw your a CNA. I once was also for 7 years then did LPN and now I am finally ready financially to bridge. I mentioned on other replies that historically the bridge is Aug-Dec first semester and then Jan-May. Two semesters for the bridge. I am uncertain how the Porter Campus will do it as from Jan-Dec there are three semesters. So that has me a little confused. Classes are Mon-Thur. The current bridge instructors I know say that they don't even know how they are going to do it and to date there is not a teacher hired for a portion of the bridge at Porter. Although all students attending Porter Campus nursing programs will have a high pass rate as they don't want their initial nursing programs to fail as it will affect the campuses scores. ;)

The bridge program is different from the RN program and there are a different number of seats for each program.

On the edge of my seat waiting to tackle the mailman. :nailbiting: Lol

I have an A&P II lab exam to study for, but my mail comes at around 2 o'clock...it's basically impossible to study.

As for you guys asking about microbiology, take Dr. Hanak! Hes at porter and only teaches micro sometimes but I have had him for both A&P 1 and 2 and hes amazing! I def plan on on taking him for micro

I am taking him right now for A&P II and definitely agree, he's awesome. Unfortunately, he won't be giving micro next semester :( . Hopefully he will be for Fall of 2015!
