PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

Besides spaziani who does everyone recommend for micro? Taking him again is not an option.

Hi I have been following you all for a bit now and have not applied for the nursing program yet but hope to next year. I am curious if you could tell me, when you apply does the application automatically go to all of the campuses for possible admission to each of their programs or do you have to apply to each campus separately? Thanks a lot and good luck to you all. :-)

hi, currently when you apply it is for all campuses under the one application.

Updates guys, I took micro with Spazani, I got an A for lab and a B for lecture. What I need for bachelors is stats, 1 more foreign language and humanities.

I forgot all about the foreign language part. I was thinking of taking ASL. My ex is a interpreter and both of my kids are pretty good at it so I could use them as study buddies. :)

Mike, as far as Humanities I would suggest Professor Neeld in Spring Hill. She is amazing and she tells you on the first day that no book is needed for her classes. Saved me big money this semester.

She also teaches Eng Comp 1 & 2 but has a full schedule with all of her Humanities classes. My current grade is a 101.2

She has a no stress teaching style that is amazing.

Noh, currently I am in ASL with Professor Rosenburg. I love her! I have like a 105 in her class right now, from all the extra credit etc. Not everyone is doing really great but I think her class is quite stress free definitely recommend!( West campus) I've heard north campus ASL teacher is actually Deaf and people drop her a lot to come to west.

I was just looking on "Rate My Professor" and Spaziani was the highest rated one on there that taught Micro. I couldn't find anything on the others that are showing in the spring schedule (Susan Phillips, T Zhukova, or C Wagner) There are 3 TBA positions showing for Porter though.

That is great to know. I was going to take Rosenburg over last summer but I already had 18 credit hours and couldn't squeeze her class in.

I took micro over the summer at north campus with laryea. I thought it was a tough class but he was a great teacher and I got an A IN both lab and lecture.

Spazani is a good teacher in my opinion but I would say that his class is difficult and you would need study groups in the class. I know all you have to do to pass the class is to read the power points and take notes during his lecture. The only reason to not pass his class would be if you didn't have enough time to study. I would say you need at least 15 hours of studying for his lecture tests, his tests are also ridiculous set up IMO. I've never had a teacher who had that type of question style, he doesn't put the questions and answers strait forward and that's pretty crappy. I suggest taking him solo during the summer, if at all possible, I don't know when the nursing program allows you to take the course or if you have to have the class finished by a certain point in time.

I already took Spazani and would really prefer to take someone else. I was studying the power points, recording his lectures and making additional notes, as well as studying 250 plus notecards for each test and was still barely passing by with D's. I use this same method in Anatomy and I am making A's so needless to say his teaching style or whatever just doesn't work for me. I dont mind a hard class and hard work but when I am putting that much effort into the class and not seeing results it is extremely disappointing. I dropped the class and now am looking for someone else to take the course with. I know he is the only teacher that teaches the course at West Campus so I will have to venture to another campus.

I will have to check this teacher out! Whats his teaching style and class like?

Saw something similar on another discussion group, so I had to see what it would look like for us. I would love to walk into orientation wearing it :) lol
