PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

Well it looks like we have two more days to go until application acceptance is over. I know a lot of people hand it in at last minute but compared to fall only 11 people have come on here so far.. not even close IMO. It gives me a better hope of us making it in, I hope so at least.. I really do look forward to meeting you guys if we make it in :D I was looking back at some older threads and some people didn't get in for spring with our same scores... which makes me super nervous their scores were in the low 80's... 83.6% to be exact which means everyone but dai would be out of the running but then again I know some people got in with low 80's for fall:nailbiting::cry: The waiting will kill me after the deadline closes.[/quote']

An overabundance of people applied for Fall so I'm guessing the people that didn't get in tried other places, got in at other places, or just got fed up and did a private school. I think most of us will get in since (hopefully) there won't be a huge amount of applicants. I tried to take the TEAS again Friday but showed up 10 mins past noon and they wouldn't let me. They said I can take it first thing monday morning at 8 am so I guess I got two more days to study. I'm really cutting it close but my whole application packet is complete regardless.

My scores seem really bad compared so I'm already thinking I am not getting in. I'll try taking the teas again and try for August. If I can't get that then I will probably look into private school as well. I will just need to find one that is nationally accredited.

Keiser tampa campus is ...I got into the program for spring 2015. Its only 16 months. If I don't get into phsc then I'll probably go there but it's costly so I'm not sure. I haven't met with financial aid yet.

Sharona don't give up hope, Chris notify me if you are a resident. I hope you do well risky :)!

Risky, I know they will turn people away on Monday due to overbooking, They did it during fall semester to you had a 4 hour wait time! I would get there right at 8am. I am trying to keep up with the list, because previous years their threads were mixed around and you would have to go back and fourth looking for scores. I am hoping to keep it easy for people, and when people get denial letters I'll make the cutoff line so it's easy to pinpoint the minimum scores since advisers can't tell us jack. I know it's different every time (just for reference) we have a pretty good spread right now.

Your'e awesome Mike! That will really help not only us but also future applicants. I am so nervous waiting to find out! This is going to kill me!

Mike you are on top of this thread and that's awesome! Im nervous but at least we have all applied that is an accomplishment in itself! Sharona don't give up or jump ship yet results aren't in yet and we don't know who ALL is applying or what the average is for all that has applied. We may all get in or all not. I went to a private college previously for RN and got 6 months from graduation and failed human growth by 2 points with a 3.8 GPA due to family issues at the time. After the experience and money i wasted i will NEVER go to a private college again especially when you are cramming important information in a very short amount of time. Just doing my pre and co reqs i have learned more from PHSC then i ever did through my private college. Everyone has different learning styles but cramming and being pushed through like cattle is not my style. If i get a denial letter ill be reapplying in fall because i know this is one of the best programs!

Land O' Lakes native! That 10 minute drive to Porter is what made me pick PHSC over HCC.

You guys are awesome. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully we all will get in.

Thank you for your reply chris! I am really hoping not many people apply, so we all can get in! That's a shame that you had to drop dai was it a credited private school? Chris did you also apply to HCC?

According to last years thread. Everyone got their letter oct 16.

I started my pre req there. I don't like how they have it set up so I am glad I found out about PHSCs program. You basically have to rely on about 8 classes worth of GPA to get in, and you don't even start till for a while after you get in. I like how if you have a rough GPA you can focus on the TEAS and still get in here. I was looking in to the Respiratory therapy program over there too, but nursing here won out!
