PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls

Hi all!! I'm starting this new thread in hopes of finding some returning or new applicants to PHSCs Fall 2016 RN orogram! This will be my 4th time applying 3rd in a row..... I'm planning on retaking my Teas to try for a better composite score.. will be applying to all available campuses for the RN transition program! :-)

Per their FAQ it's supposed to be end of June:

"When will I find out if I have been selected for the next nursing class?The Selection Committee will meet in mid October for January applications and in mid June for August applications and letters should be sent out by the end of October for January admission and late June for August admission."

:no: I haven't even received a confirmation letter...

End of JULY? That leaves almost 0 time to get in to the other school (my alternate) So if I hold out for PHSC and don't get in, I may be working and have to apply again for January. Well that really stinks. I wish they'd speed it up as I'd rather go to PHSC than a private school that's more than 2x the price. :(

It's not the end of July (despite what someone on here said...).

Its the end of June/early July. Should be any day now, actually.

PHSC is the last school I'm waiting to hear back from - everywhere else I applied to notified us 1-2 weeks ago.

PHSC is slow...

I just got a call from admissions. I was accepted for fall admission at Porter campus! I hope everyone else hears soon!

@Dsampat, it wouldn't let me reply to your comment, but you got a phone call? I thought they were only sending out letters by mail letting us know if we are accepted and or denied. Also I reviewed my confirmation letter I received in the mail a week or so ago and it said that they anticipate mailing our letters out by the last week of July. I tried posting the photo through here, by going to insert image, but it didn't seem to go through.

Phew I'm glad you heard from them as well, I was worried that it might have been a cruel joke!

That was my first thought - but the number they were calling from was the PHSC admissions office. I googled it before answering!

There is about a 98% chance I'm going to turn down the seat. Polk State College is a better fit for me because

1 - I'll be able to work on BSN classes during the RN program. When I graduate with the RN I'll only need 5 more classes to have the BSN also, and

2 - they're giving me a scholarship that will pay for all of the nursing books (about $1200), and after the first year the scholarship can be used for tuition.

I can't argue with that logic. Books are expensive! I have a BS in biomedical sciences already and a full time job. PHSCs is a good fit for me, I'm planning on completing the RN then applying for USFs nurse practitioner program.

I have a BS in psychology. I'll be able to do 2 BSN classes per semester while doing the RN classes (after the first semester).

Plus Polk has nursing scholarships that only current nursing students can apply for - so there's probably even more money I'll be able to get on top of the scholarship they already gave me.

I'll take it.

And I just officially declined my seat at PHSC.

It was a weird feeling, but I already have a spot all set and ready to go at Polk!

I Just called the Admissions offfice and they said they are notifying by letter, so I do not know who is calling. She said acceptance letters will go out by mid JULY.

I got a call. They left a message and I called them back. I got into both campuses. She asked me to chose which I preferred while on the phone so I turned down Porter. She said she will be sending me an acceptance email and confirmed my PHSC email address. Yay!!

edit - I am the one who said they said end of July and that is what the letter said and also what admissions told me when I handed in my applications. So I did not arbitrarily make that timeframe up and it also meant that I was truly shocked to get a call! The message said she was calling about my app so naturally I thought there was a problem with it.... I was pretty excited to learn I was wrong on that!!
