PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls

Published

Hi all!! I'm starting this new thread in hopes of finding some returning or new applicants to PHSCs Fall 2016 RN orogram! This will be my 4th time applying 3rd in a row..... I'm planning on retaking my Teas to try for a better composite score.. will be applying to all available campuses for the RN transition program! :-)

Good grief. They need to step their game up. I was hoping because I got my letter so early that they would be on top of things this year but it seems I was mistaken. The waiting is really starting to wear on my nerves. It seems like everyone applied at multiple places but me .

PHSC's program, while a solid program, was my last choice of the places I applied to. It is a good program, but just not the best fit for what I'm looking for.

Polk State was my 2nd choice and I got my acceptance letter from them last week.

I also applied at USF (1st choice, but definitely the hardest to get in to) for the 2nd degree program - had my interview with them yesterday and should know Friday if I got in.

But PHSC sure does take their time to make their decisions... I heard a rumor that it'll probably early July before they send notices.

Good luck to you! Your TEAS score is impressive.

I have really only considered PHSC (I looked at private schools but they are just too costly) but I've peeked at USF just to see if I would have had a chance and your comments about Polk have me intrigued as well. I am confident that PHSC is a very good fit for me but I appreciate reading your experience with the other schools.

Polk lets you start doing BSN classes after your first semester of you already have an Associates degree and you keep your nursing grades at high enough (at least a B in all nursing classes). PHSC in Wesley Chapel is much closer to me, but you can't touch BSN classes there until you have your RN.

This was the reason Polk became my 2nd choice. If Polk didn't have that option, PHSC would have been my #2 choice.

Interesting...I will have my AA at the end of this semester (long story why; I used my pre-reqs and an old attempt at college years ago to complete the degree). I also have As in the nursing courses I took as part of getting my AA (I obviously haven't taken any true nursing courses, however.) How far is Polk State from Trinity (where I live)?

I have a question for those that are applying for transition (and those that earned their LPN from PHSC). How "hard" was the first semester? Was it easier once you got the basics under your belt? I understand it varies from person to person but what was your experience? I'm asking because I've been out of school a while, taken no prerequisites (or any classes since highschool), have a disabled son and am currently a single stay at home mom. I never struggled academically but this is different. What are your experiences?

for people who previously did LPN when do they usually have the "nursing orientation" once you get accepted? one week before, 2, 3 weeks before? just curious because if i get accepted i may be out of town that week!

Has anyone received their confirmation letters for applying to the RN or LPN programs yet? I've applied to both the RN and LPN programs for West campus and Porter campus. So I figured I would receive 4 different confirmation letters, but have only received one so far for the RN Porter Campus. Was wondering if anyone else applied to both programs or both campuses and have received only one confirmation letter...

I took the Teas late, so didn't have a chance to re-take before I needed to submit my app. I got a 69.3 and my GPA is 3.3. I too have completed pre-reqs including Microbiology. But went for the LPN because I figured there would be no way I'd get in w/such a low Teas score. I think you should have a 75 or better...but that's just from hear-say. Good Luck

I am such a planner, I am about to lose my mind waiting for an answer. Anyone received an acceptance/denial letter yet? Praying hard here!! :nailbiting:

All of us would love to see our acceptance letters, but it looks like they can't even get all of our confirmation letters out. I have received one out of four so far. If you were a previous PHSC student, you know this long waiting on things is normal. Lol Hopefully we hear an update or something soon! I have been checking the mail religiously everyday.

They said the end of July but I bet we hear sooner than that. I am struggling with not knowing what my future holds, as I am sure you ALL are. It is hard.
