Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey, did anyone apply for the Fall 2023 ABSN program for PSON and did anyone hear back from them?

Hey! I applied and got accepted on March 3rd. Have you heard back from them yet?

Hey! I just got my acceptance email today!

Hi!

I applied earlier this year and got accepted as well!

Hello,

I got accepted last week Friday. Also got into NYU. Does anyone have any info about mount Sinai or know anyone who went there and graduated.

Specializes in EMT.

I got an email for an interview! not sure if this means waitlist ...or maybe they just want to get to know me better? but it's something ? congrats to y'all so far!

Current student here. Try to take patho and pharmacology with portage prior to starting the program. It will make a HUGE difference in the first semester as you get acclimated to it all.

Hi!

I have a couple questions about the program if you don't mind answering :)

What was class scheduling like? Are you there Monday-Friday 9am to 8pm? Are there weekdays off?

How do you like the program?

Any tips on how to do well? any recommended study resources?

Thank you so much!

The first semester is different from the rest because instead of clinical you have labs. Each class is once a week and 3-4 hours of lecture, and then you'll have basic skills lab and health assessment lab which are a couple of hours a week to every 2 weeks in the first semester. Nothing on the weekends in the first semester. Also, you will likely not know your schedule until after orientation-which may be challenging for those who also work or have kids to set up care for. Depending if you take patho/pharm ahead of time will change how many days of class you have/week. A lot of students had to push back to a later semester or couldn't keep up with the workload with all the classes so again, take them if you can. So many students said if they had known they could have taken it they would have. It also saves quite a bit of money if you do it through Portage, not only in tuition but book fees which can be hundreds per class.

Second semester starts clinical and you may get scheduled on the weekends.

I like the program - it takes a lot of planning and self-teaching (as with all accelerated programs) it is flying by. When I got all of my syllabi I made a calendar with what was due each week, when exams were, etc and crossed things off as I did them.  There are assignments with the e-textbook called prep u's and they were very helpful for me, especially in the first semester. Simple nursing and registerednursern on YouTube are great. As long as you stay on top of your studies and do a little bit every day you'll do well! Take advantage of signing up for a mentor in the first semester when they send that email out also. During orientation they discuss study methods and finding what works best for you, and that's really important to keep in mind. Good luck!

Hey guys ? I just submitted my application today just a few days before the application deadline I know. When can I expect to hear back? Where/ how do I mail my official transcript? Is CPR/ AED/ First Aid Training the same as BLS?  I have a 3.06 cumulative undergrad GPA with the following prereqs stats. How are my chances looking of getting in?

Chemistry with Lab: A

General Psychology: A

Human Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab: B

Human Anatomy and Physiology II with Labs: B+

Microbiology with Lab- In Progress

Nutrition- In Progress

Human Growth and Development- Taking Over Summer

Ethics- Taking Over Summer

Statistics- Taking Over Summer

Hey! I had my interview on Friday and got accepted earlier today ? They definitely want to get to know you better! When I interviewed it was a panel of 3 people, and they only asked 4-5 questions. Good luck to you!
