California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) ABSN Summer 2024

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi there!

I wanted to start a forum for those of us applying to CSULA's ABSN Summer 2024 program. I hope we can help answer questions, offer stats, and support each other during this application cycle. All the best to everyone!

Hi! Does anyone know if CSULA requires transcript verification through NursingCAS? This process doesn't start until you submit your application. I took the TEAS late. So, I submitted my application on the deadline.

Has anyone heard back about the interview yet?

Have you completed the application for Cal State LA? I believe you first get an invitation to apply to the university as a formality and then the interview. But I could be wrong. Their email stated it was a two-step process; however, I am unsure if they go chronologically. It also says we should receive the email within the next few days. I haven't received anything on my end.

Hey everyone, I'm a student in last year's cohort, ABSN 20.  If you guys have any questions as you go through the interview and (hopefully) acceptance/intake process, just drop a comment!

Hey^

What does the process look like after applying? Will be given a sample of interview questions or is it very generic? Thank you so much

Looking back over the initial emails--the interview offer was very straight forward, came through for me at the beginning of March. Just a sort of polite message saying (in more formal words) you seem like a good candidate, and there's a link to choose from a bunch of time slots for a Zoom interview. I wasn't given a sample and I don't recall anyone else getting sample questions. The interview was generic in some ways, but they asked some curveballs for sure. I can't remember them all, but some of the questions I remember them asking: why go into nursing? What do you feel will be your greatest contribution to the world of nursing? How do you plan to cope with the stress of an accelerated program? Some of the curveballs had more to do with logistics than anything: how difficult will commuting to class and clinical be for you? I can't guarantee the questions will be the same, but those were what they asked me. Good luck!

Hi, I received an interview invite on Feb. 9 for the 16, 23 or 28 before receiving the email to apply to the university about a week later, so it seems like it's not occurring in chronological order.

Interesting. I wonder if they're still sending out interview invitations.

Their email said that they're sending interview invites until the third week of March and the person who interviewed me said that admission decisions would be released March 29.

I guess its just a waiting game now, hopefully I am a competitive enough applicant. I hope the process isn't just GPA and TEAS like some schools. Thank you!

No worries! I'm confident you'll get an interview ?

I had about a year and a half of medical experience as an EMT and volunteering at CHLA.
