dear all, is it hard to get into Phillips Beth Israel School of nursing?? i heard they require to take the pre-nursing exam and do you guys know what subject of matter test on the exam?? is it hard?? since i never take any biology before!!
Hey tootsie!
Yea I just got that acceptance letter today :) I'm so happy I got in there. Def made up for the mishap with Beth Israel today lol
I have until next Thursday to make up my mind with SVCMC :) It's actually closer to my home and I liked the environment when i visited... did you also apply there?
tootsieny, try to have hope. That's what keeping me together right now. When I called the school, they said any score in the 55th perc. and over is very good and IMPORTANT. (remember mine is 72)It's your recommendations and essays and your interest to become a nurse thats VERY IMPORTANT.your recomms ,essays, and scores(2.5gpa or better, have a good ged/h.s score,if your not strongin the NLN) determine an interview. Then during the interview that's where your acceptance/rejection comes in when they evaluate your character and personnal qualities.
I definitely agree with dt209. Especially when it comes to the essay. When I had my interview, alot of the questions I was asked were based around what I had written. Test scores can only tell a person so much and I think they would realise that test scores alone don't necessarily make a successful student, it's a combination of everything. Stay positive and good luck to everyone!!
Bayley, i know that we need a 55perc. to beeligible and i have nor received my nln in the mail yet. was there a percentile score for english on your paper ...i.e if you don't mind me asking.on one of their brochures that i got at the open house it mentioned a 45 percentile for english and a composite percentile for everything.just want to know if i should rely on that piece of info. cause the lady i spoke with yesterday didn't mention it but it's on the brochure.

When you get your test results, you'll have your overall percentile and also your percentile score for just science, math, and english. I never went to the open house so I never heard about having to have a certain score on the english section, but my scores were 91% overall, 93% for english, 73% for math, and 82% for science. Hope that helps and good luck!!
Your test scores only show them your weak and strong areas. tootsieny, for you to have gotten that score you must have done well on two of three subjs. Read your nln handbook on pg.3 "which program do you....and you will understand the selection process better.
Stop worrying yourself to death now and try to envision yourself at the interview, play around with a few of the interview questions and how you would answer(remember charact. and personal quali./interest).Make sure you decide from now what you're going to wear.Be positive. That's what i'm doing. There's no reason why we should be stressing out ourselves,:yawn:then when the interview comes we're a wreck.I know the waiting is a killer:banghead:,but there's nothing we can do about it.So in the mean time just do what I said and in no time you'll receive your call/letter for an interview.Hope this helps.

I am going to be graduating from PBISON in a month and have to say that I cannot imagine what it would have been like to go to any other nursing school. You get so much personal attention because the clinical groups are small, and it really is like a family. The school is becoming more "hard-core" in it's expectations, which I think is a good thing. Weed out the ones who are going to drag the class down, I say!
I am hearing that it is becoming harder to get into. They are a business like any other school, so the more classes and co-requisites you take there, the better. I used a NLN entrance exam prep book before I took the test and it helped. Just remember that you will not be allowed to use a calculator on the exam itself so brush up on those fractions and decimals!
GOOD LUCK!!
