Phillips Beth Israel Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....

Jules,

What do you mean by cut?

I can't wait until June 15th either. I am so anxious. I keep telling myself that they would've never told me to take these courses if they didn't plan on accepting me but you never know. :uhoh3: It's going to be a loooooong 2 1/2 weeks!

They have a set amount of openings, so I assume they interviewed more people than spots available. That's what I mean when I say "cut" - or maybe the interview was just to make sure the "finalists" actually present themselves in person as well as they did on paper.

I think the interview is just to see how that person really is and if they are truly ready to handle the nursing curriculum. I'm sure it has happened that someone had an interview and was not accepted but I'm sure it was because they were not in person what they were on paper. I think they only interview people that they "intend" on accepting and of course if you blow the interview they move on to someone else. I think we're all good. I personally won't feel sure until I get that acceptance, whether it's official or not.

Jay, which program are you entering?

If I'm accepted I'll be in the ATOP program. Which one did you apply to Jules?

Traditional program.

Silly question, but do you know what the uniforms look like? I saw one photo of a white uniform with blue stripes. I'm assuming that is the regular one, but not sure. If so, it looks like I am going to have to buy a lot of new flesh-tone undergarments. LOL.

LOL!! You are too funny. I saw the mannequins in the waiting area with uniforms on them when I went for my interview. On the website they look different than the ones I saw so I'm not sure. I would have to get new undergarments as well. I guess we are some colorful people. ;)

Yeah, those uniforms are from other decades. Wish they'd bring back the traditional dress for nurses - much more flattering than scrubs. I wonder if the school would mind if the scrub top of the uniform was tailored to define the waist a little more ... LOL. Okay, I am kind of serious...

LOL, I'm all for it but I'll wear whatever they want me to as long as I get in. I'm sure you feel the same.

Yes, I'd wear a garbage bag if that's what they asked me to do.

Well, let's just try and relax until 15th and when we get the good news we can try on our trash bags! :D

I thought I was out the running and was seriously just waiting for a rejection letter in the mail but I was called by MG for an interview tomorrow ! So for everyone else in limbo, keep that hope alive. :redbeathe
