Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....
oh and FYI when I called admissions I left a message to call me back because I really just wanted to make sure everything was received. A woman called back and confirmed that everythign was received except the NLN scores but I could call tomorrow to double check because they were going thru the ones they just received.
Hi everyone,
I am scheduled to take my test soon and like everyone else, I am VERY nervous about it. Can anyone give me pointers on what to expect on the test? I have two review books that I have been studying but still don't feel confident as it has been 8 years since I graduated HS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I wish everyone luck and hope to be schoolmates with you guys soon.
Oh do I know how you feel. I've been out for 14 yrs. The test, in my opinion, is like no other test I've ever taken. The vocab is very difficult. The only way you can prepare for it is to either memorize the dictionary or read the New York Times everyday and look up the words you don't know. The reading comprehension was easy and the math was pretty easy too. Be sure to study physics. There are alot of physics questions on the test...don't ask me why. I still don't get why we need to know that. There was also chemistry, biology, earth science and anatomy and physiology. Be sure that you have the study guide the nln recommends and also be sure to time yourself. That is very important because you only have 1 hour for each section and they will not give you 1 extra minute. Vocab section is 80 questions, math 54, and science 80 so timing is crucial. Also, if you do run out of time just fill in any answer. Wrong answers don't count against you but leaving it blank will. Sorry for all the info. I wish someone would've given me all this info before I took my test. Good Luck!
Vintagedoll,
When I went to the open house for PBISON, they mentioned looking at the Regents Physics tests to review Physics. As Jayzelena said, the verbal is pretty hard, at least it was def for me also. Verbal is not my strength. The math - if you can do the problems in the review book you should be fine. Even though there are 80 verbal 54 math and 80 science the score only consists of 60 verbal 40 math and 60 science. They mention that they throw in some random test questions. As Jayzelena said make sure you are timing yourself especially the verbal since there is reading comprehension and all.
Good luck with everything!!! =) hopefully we will all be part of the new incoming class
