Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....
Sarah,
It's funny how much we can learn from our kids. They are too precious.
Anashenwrath,
I guess MG was mistaken about the 2 interviews or maybe they still do 2 interviews for the evening program only. Aren't you applying to the evening program? I would not worry about it at all. It seems like it's just their process. Look at it this way, you have another chance to knock em dead! You'll do great! Good luck!
Thanks Jay!!! I am definitely nervous, but you're right, it's just another opportunity! If I get the chance, I'll try to find out if it's just an evening thing (that's a good point, btw). That way, I can give you a heads up if you can expect another call as well.
@Sarah: I just realized our interviews are on the same day (this Thurs, right?)! maybe we'll pass each other in the elevator, lol! Good luck to you! The interviews are really low-key and comfortable; it's like a conversation, not a rapid-fire q&a. You'll do great!
Good luck on your interviews, Anashenwrath and Sarah! See if you can get the goods on where they are in their application review and then report back to us.
Do you know how much longer they are planning to conduct interviews? I feel like my interview was a month ago and it was only a few days ago!
June 15th seems so far away...I run to my mailbox every afternoon hoping that something is in there from BI. However, if something WAS in my mailbox, it would be a rejection letter since the next meeting for the "finalists" is 6/15. Okay, so maybe no news is good news.
Question: first semester we start the clinical component with our first nursing class ... does that mean we are actually in a hospital/medical facility? Or do we start clinicals in the faux hospital rooms set up within the school?
Fingers crossed, my allnurses.com friends!!!! I'm hoping I get to meet you guys this fall - this seems to be a great group of really nice, supportive, intelligent, and ambitious people!
Hi Jayzalena - I interviewed with Ms. P-S, the assistant dean. I applied to the regular two year program, not the ATOP program. Not sure if people were told to call back on certain dates depending on which program they are trying to get into.
June 15th is a Tuesday, and Ms. P-S told me that day was their next admissions committee meeting. She gave me her card after the interview and told me to e-mail or call her on 6/15 to find out my acceptance status. It is taking all of my strength and self-discipline to not pick up the phone to call and ask MG every morning. I wonder if the admissions committee conducts separate meetings for regular and ATOP or if they do it all at once.

This was my exact experience as well. So at least evening and traditional are on similar timelines.
hey guys! So the admissions committee definitely met today. I was originally told april 4th, then i needed a second interview. So then after the 2nd interview they told me that I would hear by last wed but when i emailed there are so many applicants that they werent able to get to everyone. i had everything done by the first week of april and i'm still waiting to hear back. so it's definitely a waiting game!!!
I would go by the date that your interviewer gave you. I'm not sure if evening and full time programs are separate because I was going for either evening or ATOP. lol i mean you could email MG everyday but i dont think you'll get an answer before the date you were told.
As soon as i hear tomorrow i'll update you all!!! =) If you're going for a 2nd interview for evening, it was more like they wanted to get an even bigger picture of you since you have even more commitment with working in addition to classes. jay-are you going for the ATOP? I would make sure that you dont have to go for a second interview-the sooner ur application will go to the final process.
Good luck on anyone who has interviews coming up! Like everyone else has said it's nothing to worry about.
MG didn't get back to me as to whether I needed another interview. She said I didn't but she was going to ask MS just to make sure. I didn't hear anything after that. I will email her again tomorrow. JM told me on Friday that my application was going to the committee today with all the answers to all the questions she asked me. She told me to email MG at the end of this week or next week to see how far they have progressed. She also told me they didn't get to everyone last meeting. I'm sure they finished reviewing your file today. You'll get an informal acceptance tomorrow, I know it!

AHHH! just got called for a second interview!
there goes my theory that they weren't doing those anymore. either this is a good sign or it means that they're not sure about me and want one more look-over.
