Phillips Beth Israel Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....

I am jayzelena! I called all the other programs I applied to and officially withdrew my applications :) You're gonna do great in your interview! Let us know how it goes. They did the same for me - gave me a business card and told me to call/email on the 11th. They got back to me fast too. I was worried I'd be waiting all day - or worse a few days - but 10 min later I saw the word "Congratulations!" That's going to be you guys - I just know it! :D

Yay Jayzelena! Congrats!!!! =)

for anyone else who is still waiting on unofficial acceptances and were told next week the 19th to check back - what does everyone's last name begin with??

Jay! how'd it go how'd it go how'd it go?

Jayzelena - What happened today?

Well, let me start off by saying the people there are the nicest people you will ever meet. I met with the dean, she is so sweet! She asked me all these questions like you guys said she would. I was very prepared for them thanks to all of you. She recommended I finish micro in the summer (which I was going to do anyway) and register for the online ethics course. She said the ATOP program would be perfect for me because I have 3 kids and that I would fit right in. She went into detail about the different gripes people from the 3 programs have and how they try to accommodate everyone. The whole time she was talking like I was in. (wishful thinking on my part maybe) She told me the committee is meeting next week to go over files from people just interviewed as well as the ones they didn't get to this week so it will be a little while. She gave me a card :yeah: and told me to email MG next week to check on the status of my application. I'm more nervous now than I was before!

I put it to myself this way. She wouldn't have told me to register for the online course and finish micro if she didn't think i was going to get in, right? :uhoh3: See, more nervous!

You got it Jayzelena!!!!!

I know you did!

I'm SOOOOO happy for you!

We both got in to the EXACT schools we wanted! You in Beth Israel and me in Nassau -- All this worrying for nothing!

Jay, it sounds to me like you ACED it!!!!!!!!!!! :yeah:

rock on!

and i think you're right; she wouldn't be encouraging you to take the requisites if she didn't have complete confidence in your candidacy. questions: is JM (dean) on the voting committee? i know BS said she wasn't, which bummed me out, lol! also, did she say anything about a second interview. I know they started to do second interviews for ATOP and evening students (ie, us!) but BS said that it was a logisitical nightmare so they're trying to sneak by without doing it, lol!

@starlette: my last name begins with E, but I got everything in at the last possible minute. whoops!

Okay, I'm a little confused. I went through the curriculum with BS and she showed me which classes would transfer and then mentioned taking Micro next summer, as outlined in the curriculum. She said I have 3 of the classes for first semester that would transfer (it was hand-written on an official looking form). But, people are being told to take Micro this summer? Is that only recommended for the ATOP program? I'm so confused.

I don't know. All she said was the committee was made up of 10 people who sit around a table and go through everyone's file with a fine tooth comb, lol. I don't know if she is one of the people though. I hope we don't have to go for another interview. One ois more than enough. My poor heart can't take it!

The only reason I have to take micro this summer is because I want to go into the ATOP program. If you're going into the traditional you will take it next summer.

Phew! I was worried. Thanks, Jay!
