Philippine graduate to take nclex in newyork

Published

Hi Everyone!

I just want to ask about taking NCLEX in newyork?

I live in Illinios for 3 years now and I'd like to take Nclex exam however when i called the Illinios BON they said that i need to have Philippine license but i didn't take the exam when i was the philippines. I heard that NY don't require philippine license and only needed is the copy of my transcript of record from the school and was told to fill up form at CVS CGFNS website and pay $390. My question would be is, can I process CVS application and NY State application while i am here in illinios or i need to be in NY and need to have NY address? We will be moving to NY by next year. Any Idea on what's the best thing to do?

Thank You,

since you are asking what the best thing to do is, I have to say the best thing to do would be to contact the NYS Board of Nursing directly and ask them questions directly. Information on a forum such as this may or may not be correct, and in the end you will need to do exactly what the New York State Board of Nursing wants you to do. Call them. Ask.

You need to review the process for licensing by examination as an internationally educated nurse, the national NCLEX exam is but one step in the process. You need to be deemed eligible for a nursing license by examination before you can take the NCLEX. The average processing time for CVS from CGFNS is at least 6 months before the documents are submitted to the NY BoN.

There are numerous threads in the Nurse Registration forum under the World section that discuss the process

You do not need to reside in NY to apply to NY. CVS is something CGFNS have to do for NY BON and CGFNS will obtain or try to obtain all your documents hence taking upto 6 months to go through the process

Hi! Thank You everyone for response.

If I were to send my paper work now to CGFNS would you recommend to send my credential to cgfns and at thesame time submit my application for newyork State BON? Or CGFNS first and wait for CGFNS evaluation/Response before applying with NY BON?

Because I Called CGFNS and was told by one of their representatives that CGFNS will send the result of evaluation directly to NY State BON.

So what's the best thing to do? Send the application for both CGFNS and NY BON or CGFNS first and wait till they have the evaluation results then apply for Register for NY State BON?

CVS requires CGFNS to apply for all relevant documentation which includes your credentials. you need to submit CVS application with CGFNS, pay any fees and then after 3-4 months send application to NY BON who will then wait for your CVS report before making any further decisions

Got it :) Thank You so much Silverdragon.

Do I have to tell CVS or CGFNS that I will be taking NCLEX in Illinios but that is for NY State? Or it don't matter? But for sure I know i have to tell the pearson Vue that the Nclex is for NY state.

CGFNS doesn't care where you take the NCLEX.

Your ATT will have all the relevant information regarding state you are sitting exam for.

Why not visit the National Nursing Assessment Service as they are the one who can help Internationally Educated Nurses wanting to be nurses in Canada or U.S..you can probably get infos you need before creating an account...

NNAS is for internationally educated nurses looking to become a licensed nurse in Canada only.

CGFNS (the agency referred to above) is for internationally educated nurses seeking to become licensed nurses in the U.S.

The OP wishes to relocate to the U.S. so NNAS would be the wrong agency

Hi, I'am also a BSN graduate but didn't take the NLE in the Philippines. I am planning on taking up NCLEX once I get back to New York (I'm an immigrant), I'm just confused and curious at the same time on what I should apply to? Is it the CVS for NY State or the CGFNS Certification Program? Please answer po. Thank you!
