which phil hospital will give me a good training ground?

Published

hi im a new nursing graduate and im wondering which philippine tertiary hospital gives a good training/working experience for a new grad like me...your tips and advices is appreciated much.. thanks!

I'm sure it would give you the experience needed. The more modern the facilities the better. Just my 2 cents.

bump!

I wish to know the answer to this question too though I'm still a student.

amber_snow, have you tried talking to your previous college professors? They may have past experiences (as a nurse) and also know other people who are working in different hospitals here.

by the way, have you passed/taken the board exam?

hi newguard, yes am a recent board passer.. im having a hard time right now trying to find a hospital where i can work... most hospitals that i;ve been to accepts only on a volunteer basis and u won;t get paid ... another hospital that i went to requires 6 months training without pay.. some requires a contract (certain nbr of years usually 2 years wherein if you don;t fulfill the contract you wont be able to get a certificate from the hospital)...so hard to find a good hospital to get experience...

hope anyone can help thanks!

i am also having second thoughts of working here in the phils or directly going out in the US without having hospital experience and they will train me there based on their standards... after all, standards here in the philippines are different in the US... :p

i am concentrating right now in taking NCLEX-RN... people are saying that after taking the local board exam, you will take CGFNS or NCLEX-RN exams.... so why not try it... (just a piece of advice!! )

well... im just like you and we are on the same ground as to being new nurses...

my classmated already applied in one of the hospitals here in our place... and they are doing good... some also volunteered in a government hospital for a few months... others are working... i think they did not sign any contract... or something... all goes well for them...

i envy them... they are able to have a hospital experience... :roll

Hi amber_snow

as much as possible i would like to get some hospital experience even for at least 6 months here in the philippines. i know it will be for my own good... yes, am currently preparing myself for NCLEX. Am not going to take CGFNS anymore..

right now, am working as a hospital representative/med rep... im new with this kind of work... i decided to take this job as i thought it would make me happy and would somehow complement my nursing profession and also, because there are no hospitals that offer a good term/condition for a new grad like me. But i was wrong.... i thought that with this kind of work, i could easily use my spare time reading and focusing on studying for nclex. i found out that i have no spare time at all. it's either i focus on the job or study.... i can't have both. i felt guilty not being able to study at all bec of my job. so now, am planning to quit my job and to focus on reviewing, which is really my top priority now...it's just so sad bec as much as new grads would like to work at a hospital, some are forced not to work as a nurse at all here bec of the surplus of nurses, conditions offered by the hospitals, as with my case... but i've learned my lesson... and i won't allow anything not even my job, distract me from keeping my focus.

so i guess, am just sharing this experience so that u could learn from it and avoid something like this happening to u.

i just hope philippine hospitals would be more considerate to new grads coz many are willing to serve and work at a local hospital as long as terms and conditions offered will satisfy the nurses...
