hey, guys
I know there's a lot of nurses in here. Please tell me from what you know or heard. How much money someone with any of these degrees make????
M.D.
PhD Nursing
MSN
ARNP
CRNA
Who makes more and how about the job opportuities. I don't know what to go for when I graduate.
At the end of the day, anyone can get married, have kids, family, etc... that stuff is easy.... It really takes a special, devoted person to get an MD/DO. Cut throat competitive undergrad. Med school, plus residency is enough to make anyone go crazy! Truly special people, who don't make excuses about why they work some mediocre job making a mediocre salary, only to come home and have to hear their spouse crying about bills and some kids screaming, will become doctors. Everyone can justify it anyway they want to make themselves feel better, but at the end of the day Dr > DNP/RN Phd/ >= CRNA > BSN > RN > LPN > CNA. The degree goes along with the sacrifice, commitment and perseverance required to achieve. The money comes second to the prestige.
Im an RN and I know drs that make less than I do, I know a lot that make more. I only make 130k a year so that doesn't say much for some MDs wages. I don't personally know a PhD or MSN that makes more than I do. Every crna I know make more than me, i know 16 or so.
Given the choice an knowledge I have now when I was 18 I would have gone the MD route and went for Anesthesia or interventional radiology. Super salaries and their patients have primary and specialist mds that they see/call.

I make more money with my BSN than every PhD nurse I know. There are lots of perks with academic life but salaries for nursing faculty aren't usually too great.
NPs in my state make more than I do but the trick is finding the job you want. I know many MSNs and NPs who ended up back in hospital nursing as RNs for the money.
I know zip about CRNAs. MDs do well in my state. I sit on my state medical society public health board (I'm the only RN there) and they talk salaries all the time. Even the ones who are salaried make nice 6 figures.
