PHCC Spring 2014 hopefuls

I did buy one set of scrubs, but not from the college store, got it from a store in Spring Hill. The brand is "Dickies", very soft & comfortable, a nice cut too. I think as long as it's white it doesn't matter where you buy it or which brand. I'll get the second set after the clinical starts. I heard from other students that the lab coat is not necessary.

I haven't gotten the uniform yet ether. The school re opens tomorrow so I will try to stop by there. And thank you for the info regarding the lab coat!

As far as uniforms go, I finally found pants that will work. I went to a local store (Scrubs N' Stuff) and purchased one that was very soft and not really see-thru (Koi was the brand). Also went on Amazon and my sister who is an RN made some recommendations on some uniforms and I purchase Wonder Wink pants. Both are same percentage of fabric and am equally pleased. I just went to PHCC bookstore and they told me the course manual (Nur 1021) is online and I went on Canvas and couldn't find anything. Anyone been told the same thing? Anyone find it?? Thanks!! I am not 100% sure but I guess what the refer to as course manual is the "nursing handbook" which you can find under generic nursing program on the left side, there are 2 pdf downloads, one is the RN and another is the practice act.

The course manual or the handbook? I know the handbook is on the website under where the applications are. If it's not the handbook and actually a manual on canvas we may not be able to access it until the 13th when those courses open up. I'm not sure what the manual is actually that your speaking of.

Hi everyone I am finally back to reality from the holidays and it just HIT me we are days away from our first week! eeK and I went and bought these shoes called "anywears" does any1 have the same pair? Or know if they are acceptable?

Fairy007, Yes the white ones are ok.

I bout a pair of white sneakers, I just feel they are more comfortable.

At the RN orientation we were told that sneakers are acceptable if they are mainly white.

Prospect28 did you find out anything about the manual? I went on canvas today as well and didn't see anything maybe it will be uploaded on Monday? I went to the bookstore and only bought the lab kit and fundamentals book

Fairy007, I went to the college store on Tuesday and bought all my books and the lab kit too. I asked the guy about the manual and he said that the manual is only online, no hard copies. I assume what they mean by manual is the handbook.

For all the porter campus students I called and they stated class starts on Wednesday !
