PHCC Fall 09 nursing school hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello all,

I'm applying for the Fall of 09 PHCC nursing program. I have a 3.923 gpa and still need to take the NET.

Will anyone from the spring let us know what there NET score was and how long you have been waitng to get into the program. When do we submit our applications? I have not been able to get an appointment with a counselor.

thanks in advance,

riverratt

So I guess we sign up for other classes until then. That kind of stinks. Gives us no time for alternative plans.

Also why so long? How long does it take to look at scores and GPA? Put them in order from high to low, right?

Geez,

RR

The second or third week of July geez. It's only June 5 and I'm already anxious.I agree with you riverrat, how does it take that long to look at two numbers and rank people? Oh well.

I know I was thinking the same thing. They said that if you get an acceptance letter, it will also tell you when orientation will be. At orientation you will sign up for your classes. So, it's a gamble. Do you go ahead and sign up for other classes or do you wait?

I was told the 3rd week in June when I turned in my application in May? I'm not sure how much truth there is to that though.. For the RN program, classes would start August 24th. If we do get our letters in July, that'll be quite a time crunch. We'd have to squeeze in time to confirm our acceptance, go to orientation and start classes in maybe a months time. I really hope it's sooner!

Well for whats its worth. I looked at last years posts and they started getting letters June 20.

Hope it stirs some excitement.

Is anyone here taking Micro biology this summer?

I just finished reading everyone's replies. The paperwork from the RN Gen Track application stated the letters would go out middle of June. This also corresponds to RiverRat's input of last year's applicants' letters. I really don't think PHCC will change their timeline (especially by a month) without updating their website and/or printed material. It's really a shame we're not all getting the same information. The school expects so much from its prospective students, yet we struggle to get solid answers on requirements and timelines. Anyway, add one more student who's camping out by her mailbox. BTW & for what it's worth my GPA 4.0, NET Composite 85 (Reading 70 / Math 100).

Prodigy....when you say 3 semesters, do you mean 3 years? I know that it starts in August and heard that if you don't get in, you have to wait until next August to apply again.

Not three years 3 straight semesters. If you dont get in for the fall August then you can apply again for spring Jan. If you dont get in then you have to apply for the following August.

I applied for both the LPN and RN tracks all three times that was 5 denial letters I received so don't get discouraged.

The last time I applied I received both letters the same day. First I opened the LPN and it was a denial. I couldnt believe it. I just ripped open the other very frustrated and it was an acceptance letter, so dont freak out if you receive a denial.

If you get accepted to the PHCC RN program here are two huge reccomendations that will help you succeed: 1. Use the CD that comes with the Funds book to practice and study for exams. 2. Do some internet research on how to master test taking in nursing and learn those key concepts. ie: look for keywords in questions and answers, etc.

Good Luck!

Ok. So I just got off the phone with PHCC Admissions and they said letters will go out by late June, early July. Little earlier than what I was told before, so that's nice!

this morning i received a response from phcc via email regarding the expected time of the letters. the email read:

"we are very pleased to have received your inquiry. according to the information we have been given, the acceptance letters will be sent out the first or second week of july. the actual date depends on when the committee meets and unfortunately we have not been given a specific date. i apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. you may also call the admissions office for further assistance at 727-816-3371 or toll free at 1-877-879-7422 ext. 3371."

i'm sorry to have yet another version, but i thought it was important to share.

Yeah, like I said, early July. I was told the first time I called, that it would be the 2nd or 3rd week of July, so this is good news!!

Actually it bad news. It doesnt give us much time for organizing finances. You have to reapply when your degree changes. Like from a AA to AS.

I'm with you RR. On a different note, I started a new thread on the Pre-Nursing Student Forum. I wanted to share some information I read from the admission package. You can find the thread by clicking the students tab and scroll down to Pre-Nursing Student Forum. I believe I tagged it under 1) student, 2) waiting, 3) PHCC, 4) acceptance, and 5) pre-nursing. Or search under the title "PHCC Pre-Nursing Student Excitement."

If I could rewrite the title, I would swap "Excitement" out for "Anxiety." :uhoh21:
