PHCC Fall 09 nursing school hopefuls

Published

Hello all,

I'm applying for the Fall of 09 PHCC nursing program. I have a 3.923 gpa and still need to take the NET.

Will anyone from the spring let us know what there NET score was and how long you have been waitng to get into the program. When do we submit our applications? I have not been able to get an appointment with a counselor.

thanks in advance,

riverratt

Emergency one Bob Kanner. Class is done in the back of oak hospital.

597-8875 Cost $20

That's weird people are just now receiving the application letters. I received mine two days after I turned mine in and that was the end of April. I am getting so anxious for the acceptance letters I've been waiting outside in the 100 degree weather each day for the mailman, hoping he'll have it.

On a side note, I haven't gotten my CPR certification because I've been waiting for the letters. I've decided I should just go ahead and do it now. Where did you guys go to be certified and how much did it cost?

I took mine at PHCC... It was suppose to be a 2-day class, but the second day we were there and left within an hour. Easiest class, ever... I paid $25. Nice thing is that it's on file at the school.. so if you ever need proof you can just get it from the school. I know when I took it, there were a couple nursing students who needed their cards for orientation, and they were able to get it ahead of everyone else because they took it through the school.

Hello all,

Well I have some more gossip. I hear that their are 400 applicants for the RN's 48 spots. So that means that 12% of us appy's get into the program. Ooucchh! Also I'v been told that the entrance is weighte 65% gpa/35% Net and additional 5% for Pasco/Hernando residents. Also the board is meeting the last week of June. Take it for what its worth.

Wow, RR, that's a lot of info. Did someone working @ PHCC give you these details? It seems as though one thing has remained constant; the committee is meeting the last week of June. Seeing as there are only 4 days left in June, they're probably meeting now (especially with 400 applications to go through)!

Thanks for the info; if it's accurate, I'm in a decent position. However, if my memory is correct, I believe a lot of people on this thread are in a good position. Good luck to everyone!

:yeah:

Tick.tick.tick.....

Talk about cruel. I received a letter from PHCC on Friday, but it was only to confirm they had received my application for the RN program. The letter did state that the committe would meet the end of June and the letters sent out shortly afterwards. Hopefully that means this week.

Hi everyone,

I applied for the fall program in May, and it took 3 weeks just to get a reply on the receipt of my app. When I spoke to Kim (the ONLY one who sends out the letters, she said) she told me that she had over 300 applications at the deadline date, and that it would take a while just to get the confirmation of receipt letters out. THEN they would be meeting to make a decision. When I called yesterday, I was told the committee is deciding this week, and letters of acceptance will be sent out by next week. I will be out of town for 10 days, so my hubby will be the one to open my news, if it comes.

I felt pretty confident when I applied with a 4.0 GPA and a composite NET of 87, but it is anyone's guess at how they will break a tie if there are a lot of people with high GPA and NET scores. I live in Dade City, so I am hoping for the East Campus slot. Where are yall hoping to get in (which campus)?

Good luck to all!! ;)

I am also hoping for the East Campus location. I live in Land O Lakes and have taken my pre-req classes there. I have a 4.0 GPA / 85 Composite NET. I feel my chances are as good as most others, but IF they put more weight on the reading score (70 for me) my chances definitely decrease.

Thanks for the great information and good luck to you as well!!!

I'm hoping to get accepted to the West campus. Is anyone else on here hoping for West campus?

Hey,

I would like the west campus also. But I really would like the North campus which they dont offer. They offer LPN and Transition into RN. Kinda weird.

Tick.tick.tick.....

Good news, the wait is almost over! I just got off the phone with the nursing department at PHCC.. and the lady told me the Admissions office should be mailing acceptance letters out this week.. good luck to all who have been patiently waiting! :)
