Hi all :)
I decided to start a new thread since the last one has something like 275 comments. It's a tad overwhelming!
Any questions, concerns, comments, etc regarding Pasco-Hernando Community College's programs? This is your thread:nurse:
We have decided on a meeting time and place. Here are the details:
When: Saturday evening, July 17, 7pm til whenever.
Where: Brass Tap in Wiregrass
Why: Faces to usernames :) lol--Seriously, won't it be great to meet the people who have been stressing out with us for the past several months?
If you have questions about the plan, feel free to pm me :) Also, if anyone has any brilliant ideas on how to recognize one another, feel free to share!
Jenn
RN-to-be...
I got the 8 books off amazon for $310. However, still missing:Lab Kit
Course Manual
Clickers
Mosby's DVD
3 ebooks (are these the cd's included with our books??)
ATI code
If anyone knows how, where, or how much I can best get any above items, please let me know. Thanks!
They had a bundle on amazon that included the dvd's--you did not get that? Maybe you can send back the Potter & Perry text to swap it out for the bundle (priced at $128, which is amazing).
I still need the lab kit, manual, clicker, ati code and hope the ebooks are optional and the same as the BOOKbooks. I think the manual, ati code and lab kit can only be purchased through the bookstore. (Maybe the ati code can be gotten via ati, tho)
What cd's did you get with the books? I got a cd with Fundamentals success and the cd with the medical dictionary. There are supplemental materials that can be accessed online as detailed in the interior of the books but I am waiting to hear what is said about those by the professors before I register.
Helpful? Not? lol :)

fundamentals/potter & perry text hardcover and the dvd's
Jenn, I found the package. It saves about $20-30 if you buy them together as opposed to $80 for the book and $70-80 for the DVD. I guess I'll return my book and exchange it. ARE YOU SURE THE PACKAGE VERSION OF THE TEXT IS THE SAME ISBN # THOUGH?
ha ha...STOP YELLING AT ME
Fundamentals of Nursing, 7th ed, Potter & Perry, mosby, elsevier, evolve (DOES include a disc, I just saw it, lol), isbn from book included in package: 9780323067843 *states 2009 reprint on back of book*
If I search that isbn on Amazon, this comes up:
Helpful? Not? :)
I'll pm the nursing student who sometimes posts to see if she knows :)
Okay, done. Plus I asked her to confirm that the ebooks were the same as the textbooks.
I just saw that the lab kit is $100?? WTH? They have to tell us what is in it. That is LAME.
Also, "Isiah"--I do know with your caps you were being emphatic and not yelling :) Just to clarify!
Hey guys....you sure are extending this thread quickly. If only I had this type of support when I was starting. Anyways. The lab kit I purchased when I started last fall is for 1st and 2nd semester. It included a BP cuff, PPE (gown, mask, etc), gauze, abd pads, various dressings, wound care stuff, wound measurement equip, flushing equipment, iv lines, enema supplies, Foley catheters, and gloves. Basically the supplies you will need to practice skills for labs/evals. There are multiple of everything in the kit for practice purposes...if you had a good instructor you could probably just share one, but at East campus they were pretty stringent about making sure everyone had one. You also get all new stuff for skills evaluation. Hope that answers that...but know that I still have about half of my supplies from my lab kit in my closet and I now have to purchase a new kit for 2nd year.
E-books are essentially online copies of the books. I never used them...some students did find them helpful. Instead of dragging all your books you could just use your laptop or phone with internet access and log in and do your reading. They have some study questions/answers online. It is a personal preference thing I would suspect. Nothing was different than the book version (they both were full of errors).
As far as ATI codes....we were just given them at the beginning of the semester. You registered yourself but everyone's codes were the same. So unless they changed how the do that don't worry you already paid for it with your class fees/test fees. I liked the ATI practice tests and reading material...seemed more helpful.
Hope this helps.....sorry for the delay in my reading I have been preparing for my vacation before starting 3rd semester. Let me know if I missed something.:)
