PHCC Fall 2010 (LPN/BRIDGE/RN)

Published

Hi all :)

I decided to start a new thread since the last one has something like 275 comments. It's a tad overwhelming!

Any questions, concerns, comments, etc regarding Pasco-Hernando Community College's programs? This is your thread:nurse:

We have decided on a meeting time and place. Here are the details:

When: Saturday evening, July 17, 7pm til whenever.

Where: Brass Tap in Wiregrass

Why: Faces to usernames :) lol--Seriously, won't it be great to meet the people who have been stressing out with us for the past several months?

If you have questions about the plan, feel free to pm me :) Also, if anyone has any brilliant ideas on how to recognize one another, feel free to share!

Jenn

RN-to-be...

Just got off the phone with the bookstore and they are selling the first 9 books on the list as a bundle for $404. The ebooks are just ebook versions of the texts. I'm wondering if we even really need the ebook or if it's for the sake of convenience. If the ebook is not required (I wouldn't want to drain my phone's battery reading off of it all day anyway) I'm looking at those first 9 books at being less than $300. Thanks, but no thanks, bookstore. Let's hope we don't need those ebooks. As for the rest of the books, they are each under $30 so that's not too terrible.[/quote']

Sweet. I figured this would be the case. I will take a PASS on the ebooks. I like my books in the old-fashioned form :) And I spent much less that $400 for all of the 1st semester books and study guides.

So, I guess we can get the dosage and calc ATI code from the store, right?

Excellent work, ladies. Good legal info, Sharon :) 2 thumbs way up!:yeah:

Did you get them off of half.com and amazon.com? I'm looking at about $400, maybe a little over for everything not including the course manual. I'm sure that will be like $40.

For anyone who hasn't gotten their titers/tb etc...I went to the Pasco County Health Dept. this morning. It's actually ALOT cheaper going there then going through my insurance (go figure). I was in and out of there in no time for just over $100, and that was getting everything done there...not bad.

textbooks.com (they have certified used books, fast free shipping and no sales tax) and Amazon (with prime, 2 day free shipping, and great prices on new books).

I spent roughly $350, which I think is pretty darn good. And yes, I am sure the manual will be $40--what a racket.

I did NOT get a clicker. Are you ordering one from amazon?

Yep, amazon! I think it's the right one. I'm going to wait until orientation to get that, though, just to be sure which is the right one.

Maybe we can all go in and get them together, unless prime gives free shipping with no minimums, I can't remember :)

Thanks MJ for that info on the Prime Membership with Amazon. Not sure if PHCC gives us an .edu email addy. I'll find out. Cause 2 day free shipping is sweet!!

Yeah I can't believe WIA booked up so fast today! All I got was a voicemail recording for the New Port Richey office.

I really hope we don't need those eBooks either because then I'll buy online. Where do we get the course manual from, only the bookstore?

Yep, bookstore is the only place that has them. Nice way to corner the market, huh? Hopefully they will have them in a week or so, I want to get started!

I have an .edu email account through SPC - haven't set up through Amazon yet, but I will if we all want to go in together.

Signed up! It was simple.

Does anyone know when the manual will be available? I don't want to make the bookstore peeps nuts by calling...

They said a week or two. They said they are being printed right now, so I'm thinking 2 weeks just to get everything together. I want it now!

Yes, I want that information...actually, last week...when I got my books. lol
