Hi all :)
I decided to start a new thread since the last one has something like 275 comments. It's a tad overwhelming!
Any questions, concerns, comments, etc regarding Pasco-Hernando Community College's programs? This is your thread:nurse:
We have decided on a meeting time and place. Here are the details:
When: Saturday evening, July 17, 7pm til whenever.
Where: Brass Tap in Wiregrass
Why: Faces to usernames :) lol--Seriously, won't it be great to meet the people who have been stressing out with us for the past several months?
If you have questions about the plan, feel free to pm me :) Also, if anyone has any brilliant ideas on how to recognize one another, feel free to share!

RN-to-be...
I may be the "anomaly call" - S at Career Central told P at RMCBP that I had not attended her orientation, but I was on the list of picks from RMCBP. This is because all of my WIA stuff was done weeks ago elsewhere, rather than along with everyone else's recent applications. So, once we got that clarified, he said that I was selected and that someone would be contacting me mid/late next week about coming in to sign the contract and go over things. It did almost sound like he hesitated telling me I was selected, like they hadn't officially started making the calls yet...and he was calling more about the WIA portion than anything else.
I'm not sure that helps...hope you hear something positive soon!!
PS - do you need his personal cell #?!
Scrapworking, that helps alot and makes alot of sense! My friend Becky wasn't called today or myself still so maybe the official list hasn't been created. I called S..... from WIA and she said she still hasn't received the list from P and that he had called her and she needed to return his call. But that she was going to call us to come in and sign paperwork/contracts once she got the list. I called HR and a lady said the decision wasn't completed and we would be contacted once it was made. UGH I know I probably annoyed S and HR lady but whatever I want to know one way or another. I hope Monday we all get called in to sign paperwork and contracts!
Divamommy, can't wait to meet you too! :) I think you are the only alternate chosen so far from what I know of. My classmate Debbie gave up her spot like a week and a half ago. She lives in Trinity and they said she had to go to East Campus but she couldn't do it because she has to drive her daughter to school. So maybe you got her spot? Yay for you!!!
Hello everyone :)
I'm getting pretty excited for our orientation on the 3rd! I finally had my physical and immunizations done this past Friday, and did my BLS on Saturday (my birthday of all days, lol ) Background check has been done, along with the paperwork. Phew. It's been entertaining, to say the least, to balance everything going on in my life! Sooooo excited for classes to finally start, but I am really looking forward to having the almost next three weeks off. Tomorrow is my last class for my AA. Woo hoo graduation!
I'm not real familiar with the whole sponsorship thing, but good luck to everyone who is still pending it and congrats to those who have received it. I considered sponsorship, but for me, I would rather have the option to shop around hospitals for employment. Plus, I would reallllllly like to get out of NPR :) !!!!!!!!!! It's a great opportunity for those who pursue it, and it's badass to think that you guys will have jobs right after licensing! St. Joseph's is opening a new Neonate ICU in 2012, so I have my eyes on that for the time being--until I can get in to CRNA school. Quite a few years off still lol.
I hope everyone is doing well, and again, can't wait to see everyone on Tuesday! Woot woot!
I missed out on the whole sponsorship thing. Waiting on Direct loan information etc. Get my PPD read tonight and that will be that looking forward to tomorrow AM. I'll probably get there early since I have to drop my girls at daycare in the AM. I also have to head from orientation to work.
How do you find out what campus you are at I called a while back and was told they did not know yet. I live in Holiday so I'm praying for West Campus so I don't have to burden my Mom too much to pick up my girls.
I am feverishly trying to play catch up before tomorrow since I was originally an alternate. Today I'm going for physicals & shots I have to admit I'm nervous about getting them since the only shot I've had in the last year is the flu shot which is a piece of cake. I hear the tetorifice shot is not so nice... Wish me luck!! Looking forward to meeting you all tomorrow!
Just logged on and got my background check results! After volunteering today, I'll go make copies of everything for tomorrow, and call it good.
If it helps, when I talked to S at PHCC about the info packet - she said make it as complete as humanly possible...they need them done/complete so we can go to clinicals. Obviously, it will take them time to go through each person's packet, but if something isn't quite done yet it won't keep you from starting classes. (clinicals vs. classes...) Remember to breathe!
Tetorifice tips: First, ask if it's possible to warm the tetorifice solution/shot (what is that word?!) before they do the injection. Try to remember to relax the arm/muscle (it's an IM injection) when they give it. Take some tylenol or ibuprofen about 15 minutes before you get the shot. Also, they gave me ice to put on it afterwards and reminded me to keep moving/using that arm.
Suggestion...if we get name tags tomorrow, let's put our allnurses id on there too, so we can put names & faces together?!
