PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

Published

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

Hi! Congratulations to everyone who got in. I was wondering from the people in the transition program how many years have you been an LPN before you applied and what type of experience did you get?

I graduated from the LPN program in March 2012. I've been an LPN since December 2012. I have worked in pediatric home care with children who are on ventilators, have trachs and g-tubes. One of my scary experiences- I will never forget when I was changing my pts Trach ties (by myself and the parents were not home) and the trach popped out when she made a sudden movement (expect a baby to not stay still lol) and my 11 month old pt turned blue, very quickly. Let me tell you that is more terrifying to see on a child than an adult. But of course I got the trach back in immediately, which can be hard to do on a baby and without lubricant.

Did you have to go to the school to take the test or do anything for lab or was it completely online?

SPC has proctored midterms/finals just like PHSC.

Wow. That is a lot of great experience and on the ball nurse thinking!

Thanks for your reply soaringspirit!

No in school lab needed - its all online. You only have to go into school for midterm and final.

Is anyone else in here still waiting on letters?

Okay, so I recieved my acceptance letter and I've returned it with my response (LPN- Brooksville Campus) whoop whoop!. Now where to from here? We are supposed to get an email or another letter with a packet of info on physicals and vaccinations, right?

HELLO EVERYONE! I just wanted to let you guys know, i went to the Nursing Office today at the main West Campus and i asked when the email packages would be sent out. She told me that today they are compiling the email list of everyone who turned in their acceptance and she will most likely be emailing out the packages tonight. She said be warned that it is about 30-40 pages in the package and it must all be printed out! So go any buy your paper and ink today! Lol

Thanks for the heads up! Glad I recently invested in a laser printer or else I'd really be hurting with having to buy ink worth more than the printer itself! Lol

As soon as someone receives the packet from the RN program will you please let us know? I don't want to overlook it, I receive a million emails everyday! I will also do the same, thank you!

For lpn it says on the acceptance letter what campus

Got my packet.
