Pharmacy School Anyone?

Published

Hi guys i wanted to discuss this topic because i am considering pharmacy school or Nurse Anesthesia, i have always been interested in how drugs interacted with the human body and i am considering both routes. I love Nurse Anesthesia because it is an advanced nursing program and since i will be a nurse i might as well pursue an advanced degree in the same field. With pharmacy i am exicted about the oppurtunity to study drugs in great detail and i am very interested in specializing in Oncology if i do go into pharmacy, i wanted you guys to give me ur opinions: The good, the bad and the ugly....I am a pre-nursing student, but pharmacy has always been my goal. I hoped to get a BSN and then work in an oncology unit and get a feel of what the environment is like, understand the American healthcare system (i am an international student) and then pursue pharmacy,It doesnt hurt to have an income source while attending pharm school either :). But i have been reading a lot about Nurse Anesthesia and i seem to love it....So what do you guys think. Can i just say that i expect you a lot of responses for CRNA... :)

I would be lying if i said the financial reward did not play a part here...

Thank you guys for your help...:bowingpur

Yes, i am planing to get my RN, then go to pharmacy school.

Yes, i am planing to get my RN, then go to pharmacy school.

is that a normal route for people? I've heard that at the school I will be attending that those who applied for Pharm but got rejected often end up in the RN program, but I haven't heard of people going RN then Pharm. any input on that?

Oh i have heard of Rn's that go to pharm school....i just felt that since i am an international student ,i have no idea what it means to work in the American health care system. And since most people applying to pharm school have a bachelors degree , i decided to get a bsn in nursing.. i know i want to specialize in pharmacy...so i felt it might be easier for me to catch up sorta....

Specializes in Emergency Department.

Sounds exhausting to me. Like getting an engineering degree so you can go to mechanic school. Just get a chemistry or biology degree and go to pharmacy school and save yourself the money and time it takes to get to then end point.
