hello, i'm currently finishing up my prerequisites and hope to enter the RN program at my college. i was arrested for taking clothes at a major department store and charged with petty theft earlier this year. i'm facing 3 years of probation and paying fines but there's no jail time. this is my first offense. i'm so sorry and regret it so much! not a day goes by that i think about guilt and about how i ruined my future. i would like to know how this will affect my future as a RN. will i be able to get my RN license? will anyone want to hire me?please help.thank you

Best to address this with your state board of nursing. There are far too many factors that go into these decisions; we simply have no way of guessing the outcomes.

It is up to you state board of nursing. My concern would be they would think you might steal meds, you know, narcs and things like that.

You can only get an answer to your question from your state's Board of Nursing. We can only guess on this board, and we are not allowed to give legal advice. Each state handles each case like your's in an individual manner. Please contact your Board.

Is it a felony or a misdemeanor? Which state? My husband got nailed with felony theft and later it was reduced to a misdemeanor for good behavior. He had no problem getting his license from the Indiana BON.
