I live in a rural area area LVNs make about $15/hr...a guy in my class said he was offered a summer job in S.F. as an UAP for $15/hr...I said "thats how much LVNs make here!!" he said the LVNs at the hospital he is going to be working at this summer make $20-25/hr.......I can not imagine an LVN in ORANGE COUNTY making $9.00!!
I am about to start nursing school and a good friend of mine said her sister went to LVN school and could only make 9 per hour and decided to quit being an LVN. I told her that hourly rate sounded more like MA or CNA in southern CA but she said it was definately 9.00 as LVN. She is Latino and she said it was probably racial descrimination if 9.00 is too low. I told her I had not seen that anywhere and that in OC LVN's usually start at 17-19 per hour or more.Am I way off base here? Do Hospitals hire LVN's at 9.00 per hour or any rate this low? What's the lowest hourly rate any of you have seen in Orange County for LVN's?
Something very fishy with that quote for work as an LVN. And a company cannot racially discriminate. Where was the job offer from? You get more money working at McDonald's in SF than that.
Does that person actually have a legal residency in the US? That is the only thing that I can think of that would get them pay like that...,under the table, and then the employer can get away with anything. There is no documentation.
either your friend hasn't been looking around for job postings or something HORRIBLY wrong is going on here. I have alot of relatives who are LVN's getting paid $20+ working in big hospitals and home health. All they do is brag about how much money they make and how content they are with life. What a waste to throw such a license away.
No way.....i work for Alameda County and the Average wages for an LVN is Approx. 25-27hr, in the Bay Area it is Approx 27hr for starters....I don't think that it may be discrimination, Since everyone is a Victim in Modern Day Society, BUT, you do have to do your Homework, look around and take your time. There are plenty of jobs out there and in BIG demands.
