Per diem rejections

So, so frustrated. Just got a rejection email from a per diem position I applied to four months ago, without so much as an interview. Same thing happened at a different facility maybe eight months ago. I have literally ten years' experience in my specialty, have been a charge nurse, preceptor, etc. I don't understand why I'm not even being called for a face-to-face. Any thoughts/suggestions/insight/commiseration you can offer? Is it worth it to reapply or go to HR's next open house day to show that I really am interested?

Thanks ?

What about calling them and asking why you weren't given the opportunity to interview. Perhaps it's them and not you. With your experience, they may think they would have to pay you more than a less experienced nurse. Asking for some constructive criticism or reason for the rejection and a good going over of your resume may help. Since you say it's happened twice in the last 8 months you need to dig a little deeper to find out what's going on.

Yes, go to the open house.

Im sure they get tons of applications and theres nothing personal in the rejections. Having two jobs reject you actually isn't a lot, especially if you only applied to those two places. When im looking i send out many resumes and get an answer from perhaps 25% of them.

As you get more specialized, there are probably fewer jobs that you apply to. This may make your job search a little longer than a person who may be able to apply for a couple of specialties with their past experience.

Maybe not much consolation, but at least you got a rejection email. Most of the time I receive bupkis ?.

O.o So I just looked at my phone, turns out I got a voicemail at literally the same time from the nurse manager asking if I want to come in and see the unit. You know, I try not to rag on HR in general but man... Still -- yay?

That has happened to me. I was told I had the job, then a week later I got a generic email from HR telling me that o did not get the job.

I often wonder if it’s a system issue where after an application sits in the system for so long it automatically kicks out we are not interested response. I had interviewed 2 months prior and was simply waiting on the unit to be able to hire me.

Its very confusing and ridiculous. I’m not a fan of HR departments.

I had that happen to me. I ended up getting the job and staying there for more than two years.
