What do you say when people say "ew cna! So easy and most disgusting job in the world" I can't tell you how many times I hear negative comments about that! I'm in nursing school but in Texas you must have your cna in order to continue on.

I'm an RN in Rehab---I tell ANYONE/EVERYONE that the CNA's are the hardest working people in the building. And I mean it. Nursing can be just as "disgusting", because we can and do do the same things that CNA's do, but man, they run circles around me doing it! Clearly anyone who is saying that to you has never tried to do it!

I say to them, with heartfelt empathy, that "if I were old or sick and couldn't take care of myself I imagine it would be very difficult and I feel that the work I do to take care of these people is very important."
I truly feel that those of us who work in nursing especially those of us who work with the geriatric population and in LTC are caring for very vulnerable people and that God is pleased when we care for those who can't care for themselves, be they AIDS patients or those with other chronic debilitating illnesses.

I just came across this IDK how, but you do not need your CNA to continue on in nursing school in Texas. I dont know a single RN graduate that had to be a CNA.
