Anyone else in Pittsburgh area experiencing a cut in their weekend premium pay? I hear it is the new cost saving measure catching on with local hospitals.:madface:

I do relate the attempts to turn back wage gains to the easing of the shortage in this area.

I see a cycle here. Wages are stagnent, shortage follows. Wages go up, shortage eases, wages go stagnent shortage gets worse. These people never learn.

I was just doing some calculations from the latest NCLEX-RN result summary. I get about about 1500 GN nurses in the last reporting year for the SW PA area vs. about 700 GNs about 3 years ago.

Just a simple matter of supply and demand. If they've got someone else waiting to take your job, why should they try to make you happy?

I'm a bit worried since I've still got 18 months to go. I foresee some lean times for us.

I know that UPMC cut the weekend differential at Passavant when they took over.

Can't say that's the case where I am, where there is a weekend program.
