Penn State Residency: Hershey Medical Center 2015

Published

Hey Everyone,

I don't see a thread for 2015 yet, so I thought I'd start one. I'm just beginning the application process, and the clinical narrative is killing me. I precepted in trauma at a trauma center, so it was get them in, get them out: usually to a rehab. I can't think of how I might have changed their lives or had a big impact. I was able to attain great skills and do frequent assessments: neuro, neurovascular, cardio, telemetry strips, etc. and do and see some great stuff, I wish I could write about that!

I'd like to hear from anyone applying now or who applied in the past. Any pointers?

Congratulations everyone!

Congrats, all. I haven't heard anything back from the MICU yet, but I'm trying to keep a "whatever will be, will be" attitude. :)

Have you heard anything back yet? I have a few friends who interviewed in different units. Some of them have heard, and some of them are still waiting.

Hi everybody! I'm going to be applying for the July 2015 cohort. Anyone else? I hope everyone who was still waiting on an e-mail got good news!

I did too! Of course I finally submitted my whole portfolio today, at the last minute:wideyed: Which units did you prefer? NICU, PICU and MICU for me.

Will those of you starting or in the residency now post here or send me a PM to tell me how you like Penn? I'm considering applying in June when I have 6 months experience for a regular nursing job. They're one of the few not asking for 1 year's experience. Thanks! :)

Yay someone else! Good choices. I did PIMCU, peds acute and peds oncology. I can't wait to hear from them! But yes anyone with any insight into the residency, I'd love to hear about your experience!

I'm getting anxious to hear if I got an interview! I'm guessing in the next few weeks we'll hear, right? Do you live in the area?

Me too! Yeah, definitely by mid-March. It seems from past threads they typically begin sending emails about a month following the application closing date. If that's the case, we could get something as early as next week!

I'm from Long Island originally and I'm currently in school at Binghamton University, so I'd be relocating if I get this! What about you?

I'm actually from the area. If you get in I'd love to show you around/mostly go to hershey park :cheeky: I'm an LPN and am in an ASN program so I'm nervous I won't get in. I did get my acceptance letter for the rn-bsn program i have been looking at today though! Hopefully that will help my chances.

I applied too for SICU, MICU and women health.....I'm an asn grad but have a 5 year background in medical imaging with a bachelors degree so i'm really hoping that helps me.....this is my dream job and i'm seriously obsessively checking my emails at this point! lol

i'm really hoping we get something soon!
