Penn MSN 2020

Published

Hello! I'm surprised that no one has started a thread for the University of Pennsylvania 2020. I applied for the MSN Nurse Midwifery program. Anyone else applying for next year?

I hope so. I've spent way too much money already on getting my licenses in PA, DE, and NJ like they asked..

Hey how long did it take you to receive those licenses? I'm currently applying from Indiana and am trying to figure out how to even apply for licensure in PA. I went onto PA's state website and am following the instructions that they listed. But I'm stuck on trying to figure out how to request my Criminal History Records Check from my state police. Also, is that the option that you did? or did you end up providing both a CHRC and a FBI identify history too?

This is slightly overwhelming and I haven't even applied for DE and NJ hahaha

Hi! has anyone heard back from PT FNP Fall 2020? Or am I the only one it seems like.... hahaha

It's definitely overwhelming and I'm still unsure if I did it right. I went the CHRC/FBI route because I've lived/worked in three states. My state's website was straightforward to get the CHRC thankfully. It's been a lot of paperwork and a huge headache! All the licenses are still in process..haven't gotten one approved yet.

Accepted for NNP! Any other neonatal peeps out there?

I was interested in the NNP program at UPENN and was wondering if you had any advice on strengthening my resume? What do you feel like helped you stand out?

Hey there!!

Super relieved that UPenn FINALLY announced plans for Fall! I'll be in the full time, MSN-FNP cohort starting this Fall. Was wondering if anyone who'll be in my program, cohort, or ANYONE at UPenn would like to connect hahaha

I'm moving to Philly in Aug and I don't know a single soul in the city ? now that most of semester will be online and lab will be the only in-person interaction with classmates I was hoping to connect & meet ppl/make some buddies to go exploring around the city and study together ?

Hi Thenewnicunurse! Honestly, I'm still in shock that I was accepted, but what I think helped was the quality (versus quantity) of my NICU experience. I've only been a NICU nurse for about 4.5 years, but all of it has been in a Level 3 and Level 4 NICUs. I've done all the specialty roles (charge, transport, deliveries, advanced clinical skills) possible at both facilities. I especially think having strong delivery experience set me apart, as the program director mentioned in the interview that many applicants don't have that experience.

The program is really small, and NICU world is small in general, so happy to be more specific or answer any other questions you may have in a private message!

Thank you so much for your reply! I would love to ask you more questions but I'm unable to message you privately ?

I am also applying for the NNP Program at UPenn but for Summer 2021 for the Full-time Program.  I would absolutely love to go to UPenn.  I have delayed taking my RNC and now I am afraid I won't have my results in time to list it on my CV for my application.  How important is having your RNC-NIC in applying?  I feel like I have good quality experience in the NICU and a decent nursing GPA.  I really wanted to have my RNC but in Covid times it seems that they are taking a long time in getting us our results...

I feel like as long as you have good experience you should be fine!! Also, I know many nurses have taken their RNC-NIC in my unit and have received their results within the week. Have you submitted your application yet?

I think only 50% of us in this year's cohort have our RNC; don't stress! Take it if you can (or even the CCRN neonatal), but otherwise your experience will speak for itself! Happy to answer any other questions re: program in a private message. Also, I just came from the Bay Area!

Dear Gobears23-I tried messaging you but the site won't let me.  I turned in my application last week for UPenn's NNP Program Full-time for Fall 2021.  I am absolutely crossing my fingers.  I just love the program and would love to go to UPenn.  If, per chance, I get invited for an interview...Do you have any insight or advice about the interview?  Are there many clinical questions, did anything catch you by surprise, was there any questions you wished you would have prepped more for, etc.?  Thank you so much in advance for any insight!

For those of you who have been accepted, how is the program? Is it worth the price? Do you feel that you are getting the IVY league experience? Did you make a good decision by going to upenn
