Penn MSN 2020

Published

Hello! I'm surprised that no one has started a thread for the University of Pennsylvania 2020. I applied for the MSN Nurse Midwifery program. Anyone else applying for next year?

I was accepted and currently attend Penn! Great education and great faculty. However, if possible, I would recommend waiting until the pandemic is over until going to school for your MSN, anywhere... right now it is so difficult to get clinical sites and many of us are behind on hours and there’s a chance we will not graduate on time. The social aspect of school really isn’t there since none of us are in person for classes which is also a bummer.

Penn is handling things well. But if possible, I’d wait to attend school until this is all over. Graduate school is so much harder this way right now.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for your response. I have not been accepted yet. But I am hoping that I will. Does anyone know about the financial aid situation?

I appreciate your honesty but its just not possible for me to wait another year.  It looks like you are possibly in the midwifery program?  When I interviewed they said everyone in the NNP program (my program) was likely to graduate on-time this year.  I've been accepted for Fall 2021 which would start July/August and I'm just hoping things are a bit different by then.  The Program Director was very honest about the challenges with clinical sites and I'm OK with having to deal with that challenge.  I'm 40, a mom, and I've been a nurse for ten years so I just don't feel like I can wait another year or that it would be easier as my child gets older to make a cross-country move.  But I do really appreciate the honesty and considering I'm not much a fan of online classes I know this aspect of it will be a challenge for me.

I feel like, no matter what, with nursing school there is always something.  For undergrad, midway through the program my school changed the sequence of curriculum extending it a semester for everyone.  Now for grad school its the pandemic.  Nursing school is to be endured I guess with all of its lovely bumps in the road and unforseen challenges.

I got accepted. Yay!! Im soooooo happy. I really didn't think I could get accepted to an Ivy league school, but I did. I wish you all the best and please lets keep each other lifted in prayer and in encouragement. I will surely need it.

Congratulations!  So exciting! I'm awaiting news about the financial aid situation as well...

Hey there!!

Super relieved that UPenn FINALLY announced plans for Fall! I'll be in the full time, MSN-FNP cohort starting this Fall. Was wondering if anyone who'll be in my program, cohort, or ANYONE at UPenn would like to connect hahaha

I'm moving to Philly in Aug and I don't know a single soul in the city ? now that most of semester will be online and lab will be the only in-person interaction with classmates I was hoping to connect & meet ppl/make some buddies to go exploring around the city and study together ?

Hi, I had a question regarding your admission process. How soon after Oct 15 or after you submitted your application did you get an interview request? Was it with someone or one of those that you record video answers?

Sorry, I would private message you but I haven't unlocked that feature yet... Thanks!

Hey @Coeur dCoeurs! I submitted my app by the Nov 1 deadline and heard about an interview in mid-March! My interview was on the phone with someone! Good luck with everything ?

@nursegirl20 Oops, sorry, I was using the wrong deadlines! Can I ask how many years you've been a RN?
