Penn MSN 2020

Specializes in Perinatal.

Hello! I'm surprised that no one has started a thread for the University of Pennsylvania 2020. I applied for the MSN Nurse Midwifery program. Anyone else applying for next year?

Hey! Did you apply full time?

Yes, I applied for the full time summer start.

Awesome! I applied FNP full time fall start. When do you think we will start hearing?

I’m not sure. I think some departments hold interviews and some don’t. I’m not sure about CNM or FNP. I’m trying to just let it go and expect word in mid February but it’s really hard...

Hi! I also applied for this cycle for midwifery. I've attended an Open House in the past and the NM/WHNP faculty said they interview everyone they're considering accepting. FNP might be different though, I believe their applicant pool is bigger? Good luck to everybody!!!

Aspiringcnm3, thanks for the info! I wasn't able to attend an info session but got to visit Penn and meet with admissions. I hadn't remembered talking about interviews at all. Are you on the east coast?

@AmyS4 I am on the east coast! I’d be relocating a bit if I attended though.

I am on the west coast but grew up in western PA and NE Ohio. I'm not very familiar with Philadelphia beyond a visit in August. We had a good impression though.

I’m originally from the area. Philly is awesome! Amazing food, a great art and theatre scene, multiple concert venues, lots of festivals, historical sites, and many different neighborhoods with all different vibes. Sports are a big deal. Winter is COLD but if you like four seasons you won’t mind. Glad you got a good impression!

@AmyS4 and @avs6000 are you planning on working during the program?

I'm SO happy someone started this thread! I applied for the FNP program at UPenn for full-time, Fall 2020. I'm not getting my hopes up too high tbh because I applied with a 3.5 cumulative/nursing GPA. My first degree was Biology so that kinda killed my GPA haha I'm sure they look at an application holistically but I'm worried that my GPA will be my weak point. I'm currently working as an RN and have loads of volunteering and extracurriculars. Hoping that my personal statement and my resume will help out.

Guess all I can do now is wait and see what happens! Good luck to everyone who has applied ❤️
