Hello All,

I'm taking the OB/Peds ATI's next week and I'm really concerned about the Peds one. In our program we have to make at least a level 2 on the ATI in order to pass the class. We get two chances to take the test, but I really want to pass the first time. I've heard that a lot of people have a hard time passing this test. Does anyone have any suggestions about passing it? I've been reading the ATI books ... is this enough? What parts should I really be focused on? What types of questions were on the test? Any tips that will help me pass this test would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks!

Not sure if this will help you, but ours had a lot of developmental stages questions. This test was my lowest (level 2) and the most difficult. I wasn't a note take either, I just read, re-read, highlighted, read again, then looked over my highlights (which was pretty much the entire book, haha). Do you take the practice tests? Good luck!

That post was for Peds, are you taking OB and peds together?

I would read the ATI books and do the practice tests on the ATI website....Good Luck...:)

Focus on the developmental milestones, know what age certain reflexes go away (moro reflex, pincer grasp, babinski reflex, etc). Also, know things like what is expected of a 6 month old vs 9 month old, etc. Good luck!

Are OB and PEDS in the same test or 2 separate?

Thanks for the advice!! :) No the OB and Peds are separate tests I'm just really worried about the Peds one. I've been getting good scores on the OB practice test but I haven't gotten above a 60% on Peds. I'm studying the ATI books and I've taken the practice ATI tests.

Any more suggestions would be great!

What I noticed with ATI is that you have to understand the concept of the material you are being tested on... For starters, the questions on the ATI practice test will be your best bet for insight on may be on the exam. Do the practice tests religiously everyday and maybe if you feel lead to, you can practice NClex questions on the material. Know that ATI book from cover to cover. It seems like they usually take questions from every chapter. Good luck on your exam!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I PASSED both OB and Peds ATI's today!! I barely made a level 2 on both, but I passed so I guess that's all that matters. The OB was way harder then I expected it to be, but Peds wasn't all that bad. Thanks for all your help!! :)

Congratulations! Now that the scary part is over, can you tell me what ATI is? I've never heard of it.

It's a standardized test that we have to take for almost every class we take in nursing school. It's designed to test whether or not you will be able to pass the Nclex or not. We have two chances to pass for each test we take and if we don't pass them then you fail the class. In our program you can only fail two classes. It's basically telling the school if we would be able to pass the Nclex on the first try when we graduate. The tests I just took were pretty hard and I studied a lot for them. I'm just glad I passed and it's over with :yeah:

Huh, I guess our school doesn't use those. I know all our tests are from a test bank, and they're NCLEX-style questions. I wonder if they're the same thing, they just never bothered to tell us there was a specific name for them.
