Pearson vue trick

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I turned to this website/threads when I was struggling with the ever so dreaded NCLEX... And I would just like to say that as an official RN now ;), the Pearson Vue "trick" that everyone knows about DID NOT work for me. I took the NCLEX on July 8th... 237 questions (I was dying). I did this "trick" for the remainder of the day, and constantly got the "bad pop up". I was completely devastated... This was my second time taking the boards. I cried myself to sleep that night, and even contemplated on what career to pursue now.. "what will I do now?! I'm never going to pass." The one & only reason why I even checked my results the following day was because a co-worker harassed me ALL day to check. I said to myself "there's no way I passed. I failed. I don't even want to see the word FAIL."..... And there it was "PASS". I still can't believe it.

BUT, this is for the people constantly arguing the point "does the Pearson vue trick really work?". NO - it did not work for me. After going through all of those emotions for 24 hours, I'm hoping this helps someone that might be put in the same situation one day. Don't trust it!!! I wish I would've never even attempted it that day, to save myself the devastation, but at least now I can say that I'm officially an RN now, and the hard work has finally paid off! Don't give up!!!

Oh OK do remember if u got anything in the mail I know they send something if u fail what about when u pass

Each State's Board of Nursing operates differently, on their own timetables, with their own procedures.

For SOME, you can see that they update their websites daily. Others, only once or twice a week...still others, several weeks before anything is posted on the BON website.

You will either get a notice in the mail that you failed, accompanied by a CPR (Candidate Performance Report) indicating in what areas you were successful and unsuccessful, so that you can develop a new study plan. Or, you will get a notice of licensure in the mail (your license number, registration info, etc). One or the other.

Dmckinley, would you mind spelling out the words in your posts, rather than using "text speak"? Most people have an easier time reading messages that aren't missing some of their letters ;)

Thanks ?

sorry that's just how I type didn't know this was English class lol

You just get your license in the mail when you pass! At least that's all that I've gotten, and I passed 3 weeks ago.

No, this is not English class, but the site terms of service maintain that this is a message board for professional nurses and related careers and as such request that members post in English only, no text or chat speak. There is a reminder on the website right above every reply box.

Thank heavens it's NOT English class....there'd be a lot of 'F's being handed out! ;)

You can also check your state's board of nursing website 24 hours later for your results. 24 hours later, I had my results, and didn't pay a dime towards it! :sarcastic:

Goodluck!

It depends on the state. I didn't get my license for 2 weeks after taking NCLEX (May 2, 2011). The biggest reason being the SC-BON was having to process hundreds of rest results. A co-worker, who passed her NCLEX in May this year also had to wait, except in her case, it was closer to 3 weeks.

I just took the LPN nclex last Tuesday and was told to wait 5 hrs after the exam to do the PVT trick. When the cc page popped up a friend told me I failed. I was devastated all day so at night I went on this website and looked up the PVT thread page and so many posts of people saying to try the PVT after 24 hrs and enter a valid credit card with a little amount of cash but change the expiration date. I did just that and I got the "good pop up". I felt relieved yet still not satisfied. I checked again after 48 hrs with an old empty credit card and still no changes. I'm from Cali so we don't have the nice option of waiting for the 48 hr quick results. I really just want to know if I passed or failed so I can just keep studying and retest soon. I just don't want to give my hopes up. Going to check again in 78 hrs. I've been a CNA for 7 yrs and challenged the LVN and finished my RN pre reqs to bridge. Passing will be truly a blessing.

Every NCLEX undergoes a Quality Assurance review at some point during the 24 hours following the exam. Have no idea where anyone would get "five hours" as a marker from, it makes no sense.

At any rate, the reason to wait 24 hours before playing the PVT game is because it will allow enough time for your results to finalize. Whatever pop up you get at that point....is all you are going to get.

If you continue to do the PVT, you increase the likelihood that Pearson Vue will go ahead and attempt to make a charge for the registration you are authorizing with your submission of financial info. This happens on occasion; will you feel better if you do the PVT a few more times and get a "card declined" notice? I doubt it. And it won't mean a blessed thing.

Be glad you didn't get a charge attempt (good pop up) and let it go at that. NOTHING changes regarding your test at this point! It is completely scored, reviewed, done. Results WILL NOT change, but your pop up message just might. If you like anxiety attacks....then do it again ;)

Meantime, do something to distract yourself from thinking about it! You gain NOTHING by continuing to obsess on it...EVERYONE of course wants to know if they passed, but at this point, you CANNOT know anything with certainty. PVT is a guesstimate, a game.

It's probable you passed, based on the successful percentage of US-educated applicants who DO pass. Go with the odds, they are in your favor ?

Good luck!

Thanks RNsRWe... Ok I did check it again after 72 hrs still same pop up. Then I saw your response. You're right I should stop because I'm driving myself crazy. No more checking for me because it hasn't changed. Thanks for the encouragement. I'll just try and keep myself busy somehow. Will post in a few weeks when I finally get the results:)

Thank you so much for updating us with that information. I just took the NCLEX yesterday and have been dying to figure out my results, so I tried the PVT trick per my friends request and the website made me enter my card information and it got submitted so now I am freaking out thinking I failed! I know its not a legitimate result, but I have no idea what to think anymore. A lot of the girls I went to school with passed and they checked the state board of nursing website to see if they passed or failed within 24 hours and it gave them their results, but my status just says exam taken so I have no idea what is going on. I just hope the quick-results are up tomorrow so I can finally know if I passed or failed.

Did you pass urji?

did u pass?

I did the same thing and my cc was processed!!! i'm just secretly hoping that this is a false prediction of the status of my exam :(
